[DUPLICATE] noscript launching addon bar on reboot

Post by jeffla »

in firefox have it set to hidden. After eliminating all addons, extensions, themes and so forth I was able to determine the white bar at the bottom of my screen was being caused by noscript. It appears after a reboot of firefox and when visiting the 1st website upon launch. If I disable noscript the problem goes away. If I hit CTRL / I can make the white bar disappear. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled noscript with no change. I am running the newest release version 2.4.1 and tried the current beta build with no change. Lastly I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox with no change. So far the only solution has been to disable noscript.

Any suggestions.

Good job trying to eliminate other causes :). The only one that you haven't mentioned is using a fresh profile.

I can't reproduce it on my system, though; if I switch off the addon bar with Ctrl /, it stays gone on restart (tried with Alt+F4 and with Ctrl+Q, to rule out session saving issues). Not sure what's different.

Have you tried the various checkboxes on the Appearance and Notifications tabs in NoScript Options? If one of them is causing it, that would help narrow it down a lot.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to switch off the addon bar? Do you have a small screen?

Yep, that is my problem. Thank you both for the help, I will follow the other thread. If an admin wants, they can delete this thread as it is a duplicate of the other. I truly appreciated the assistance. I am glad to see the support community is active for noscript.

@ Thrawn, my screen is a 14" 1600x900. I miss the days of taller not wider laptop screens where whole webpages fit vertically. Unfortunately, I can't find a laptop now days without a widescreen attached. So I value every millimeter of vertical space :)

I'll mark it as a duplicate, so that support and the community know that it requires no further action, but will leave it up as-is. It may draw the attention of others with this issue who missed the previous thread, or didn't find it when they searched the forum.

Different strokes for different folks... I too have a widescreen laptop, which is used in business as well as personal. It's a big advantage to be able to place, say, two text documents (drafts of letters, etc.) side-by-side, and still get them to fit mostly on the page. Also, in doing support, keeping the thread in one window, going to the site in question in another window, and tiling those vertically also, so there isn't a need to jump back and forth between tabs.

I couldn't do that on my first laptop, which had the older, more-square aspect ratio. As they say, everyone's mileage varies. ;)

You're quite welcome. And yes, we're fortunate to have a number of enthusiastic members who often assist the support team. :)
