"Do not filter objects coming from these sites:"

Post by tesa »

Noscript needs to prevent these sites ".hulu.com .youtube.com". I wrote to them about this and they said they were just examples. I don't buy it though. I say this with hesitance because I'm not what you'd call a comp wiz, but I know when something doesn't add up, and this doesn't add up. The app is very straight forward in this respect. I'd like to hear from anyone else who has these on their noscript. I'm perfectly willing to be told I'm wrong, but for now I see it as NOT ADDING UP.

I believe you're referring to NoScript Options > Advanced > External Filters.

That tab applies ONLY if you use the External Filter feature, by checking the box and then choosing a filter.
If you don't want those sites exempted from external filters, just delete them there.

The fact that these sites are in that particular feature does not in any way imply that they are exempted from the rest of NoScript's protections, including basic script permissions, object blocking/permissions, XSS protection (which has its own separate list for Exceptions), etc.

youtube.com and ytimg.com (along with Google, Yahoo, etc.) were added to the Default Whitelist as a courtesy to novice users who complained that NoScript broke all of their favorite sites, and were not willing to spend a few minutes reading the FAQ or getting acquainted with this powerful and valuable new tool. Many just uninstalled it. Of course, everyone can, and should, remove from the default whitelist any sites whose scripting they do not need. (Which is not the same as not using the site. I use Yahoo mail, but remove yahooapis from the whitelist).

hulu.com is not in the default whitelist.

I hope this reassures you.
