[Resolved] Can't get Bandcamp player to work with NoScript

Post by f7DWSrEhY9Vr »

Hi all

First I want to say THANKS for such an amazing tool. I love NoScript and feel much safer on the interwebs since I started using it.

I read the FAQ and searched the forums for this issue but couldn't find anything. I'm using Windows XP, Firefox 11.0 (latest version) and NoScript 2.3.6. I find that I can never use Bandcamp music players when I have NoScript installed, even when I allow scripts Globally. I usually end up having to switch to IE to listen to the music. For example, today I tried to listen to this page http://rosiethomas.bandcamp.com/

Is this something I'm not doing right in my configuration of NoScript? Can anyone advise?

many thanks
Brad

Allow bandcamp.com
Allow bcbits.com
Then, in the Blocked Objects menu, there was a shockwave-flash@http://bandicamp.com to allow.

After that, I hear country :|.
(Well the first song, at least, sounded like country.)

Neat site.

Alternatively, if you have checked NoScript Options > Embeddings > Show Placeholder Icon, there will be a red NoScript logo (placeholder icon), indicating the same blocked object as the menu.

You can just click this icon, and click OK at the confirmation prompt ("Temporarily allow XYZ@http -- etc.").

You can uncheck "Always ask for confirmation" on this prompt, but I like to get a second chance to look at what's being allowed.

Also, that confirmation box can be copied/pasted if you need to post the contents here (or for whatever).

I've asked for Blocked Objects menu to be copy-able in the same way the main menu is (r-click), but Giorgio has had a lot of higher-priority things to deal with.

Thanks a lot for the replies. Using your advice as a guide, I eventually realised that another Add-on called Flashblock was the problem, not NoScript! Thanks again for the help.

Another user found the same conflict with Flashblock, although in that case, it was with mail attachments. As said there, since NoScript provides good Flash-blocking capabiity, there's no reason to have both.

And you're quite welcome. :)

Especially that FlashBlock is completely voidable and by the admission of its own creator, NOT A SECURITY TOOL.
