NS has just stopped working with Google
NS has just stopped working with Google
Just got this error this morning, is reproducible. If I allow google.com searches work fine. If not, I get this error no matter what the search term.
May be related: Happened after I "revoked all temporary permissions" when I had temp enabled google to look a a google map.
The error:
"404. That’s an error.
The requested URL /&gbv=1&sei=ITqHT4HdAojUiALm1IzgAg was not found on this server. That’s all we know. "

Re: NS has just stopped working with Google
I can confirm this, even with a new profile and fresh NoScript installed. As soon as I disallow google.com, I get a 404 for all search results, and the URL is something like http://www.google.com/&gbv=1&sei=NVqHT9qOF8uUswbzg4iIBA

Re: NS has just stopped working with Google
Could you post an example URL of a search result page which suffers of this problem (not the URL of the broken landing page)?
Does it happen for left click, middle click or both?
Also, could you try clearing your cookie and check whether the problem persists?
Thanks.

I can also confirm. To reproduce the error use
www.google.ca or
www.google.com
enter "london" (no quotes) or anything else in the search box hit enter and the error is generated.

It works for me (cannot reproduce) .cb wrote:I can also confirm. To reproduce the error use

Could you actually reproduce on a clean profile with just NoScript installed?
If so, what permissions do you need to tweak from the default configuration?

Re: NS has just stopped working with Google
Yes, as I wrote before. The only thing I had to do in a fresh profile was install NoScript and forbid JS for google.com, and it breaks. When JS is allowed for google.com, everything is fine.Giorgio Maone wrote:Could you actually reproduce on a clean profile with just NoScript installed?

Of course, when I have JS enabled for google.com, it does instant search while I type. When I forbid JS while I'm on the search results, it goes back to the search form, and I have to press the "Search" button, however, Google then instantly jumps to the "broken" 404 URL. Also, direct links like http://www.google.de/search?q=test don't work anymore with JS forbidden.
I'm not exactly sure who is to blame here, NoScript or Google...

+1 to the list
Within the past 24hours search requests sent to or through google.com now redirect to a 404 error page.

The following URL are forbidden under NoScript
http://www.google.com

Can reproduce here with clean profile w/ firefox 11 on archlinux. Interestingly searches still work properly through lynx, a text mode browser without javascript.

Same problem here. FF4.01, NS2.3.6. I guess google have rolled out something new, as they have that google art project thing below the search box for the last couple of days.

Win7 64-bit
NoScript 2.3.7
Firefox 11
Happening here too. On google.ca you can type "blah" and it returns this:
404. That’s an error.

Re: NS has just stopped working with Google
I have the same problem in Firefox with NS enabled and blocking Google scripts. However, when I change my user agent to something else via UserAgentSwitcher (IE for example) and leave everything else the same, searches work fine. Google is clearly blocking Firefox + NS specifically, and it's crap. I'm switching to something else for my searches

Re: NS has just stopped working with Google
Hi, Came here tonight after having google problems and saw this thread. I do not get any error messages, so for me it's just a little different. I use force https for google, and google is not whitelisted.
When I put a term in the search box and hit enter the google.com page loads, so I get no results and it loads google.com. If I enter a term in there and hit enter, it just reloads another blank google.com page.
Just thought I'd add this in case it helps in showing what is occurring with google.
take care

Created string general.useragent.override in about:config and set it to testing and google searches work, disabled it and back to the 404.
