Stop Downloading Browser Videos
Stop Downloading Browser Videos
Firefox version 11.0. I installed FlashGot for one reason - so that my download manager GetRight will work with Firefox. Now I find that FlashGot is downloading every video clip on every website I visit. I watch a lot of clips on CNN, Fox News, ABC News, etc. I do not want to download all these news video clips. Is there any way to turn this feature off? I disabled automatic downloads. I even disabled the program itself. It continues to download every video news clip on the website. I only want to integrate with GetRight. If I cannot stop it from automatically downloading all these video clips I will have to uninstall it.

What program is that?I even disabled the program itself.
If FlashGot, then obviously your issue is not FlashGot.

Re: Stop Downloading Browser Videos
It certainly is. What other than Flashgot downloads video clips and places an icon next to the address bar with an FG and shows the number of files downloadiong? That's only Flashgot. How could it possible be anything else? When Flashgot is removed the video clips stop downloading. There is a big difference between "disabled" and "removed". In all of the computer world other than Firefox, "removed" means "uninstalled".
Flashgot hijacks Firefox and downloads video clips whether or not the user wants it to. It cannot be turned off or stopped. I uninstalled it and installed Downthemall.

Gave me the impression that you disabled FlashGot & the videos continued to download. It continues to download every video
And you're saying they did?
But then it stopped once you removed FlashGot?
I don't think that is FlashGot.What other than Flashgot downloads video clips and places an icon next to the address bar with an FG and shows the number of files downloadiong?
FlashGot Media icon, the one you would normally see, does not have an "FG" on it.
Appears there is another FlashGot icon that you can get by (FF) Customize, but that also does not have an "FG" on it.
FlashGot does not show the number of files downloading.

Re: Stop Downloading Browser Videos
I'm very confused. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flashgot 4 more times. With the last install that automatic, unstoppable, downloading of video clips on CNN website stopped. I do not know any other similar program identified by initials FG that downloads video clips from website. The icon appeared between the forward arrow and the URL.

Re: Stop Downloading Browser Videos
Wonder if some application (download manager?), outside of anything "Mozilla" might not have added some sort of extension into FF, & it was that which you were seeing?
