Unecessary Notifications

Post by geckobob »

Just after downloading and installing the latest NoScript update, done today, I started getting unnecessary notifications that must be cleared to continue anything in the browzer. There have always been blocked scripts when a page loads and then I enable them one at a time, but there has never been these notifications. I tried deselecting the various options on the notifications page, one at a time, and then tried the page. I can make this happen by hovering the mouse over goggle's googleplus icon. This pop up panel must be cleared every time with a mouse click to continue anything. Most importantly, this has never happened in all the years I have been using NoScript.

What did you do to make this happen in this last update? I can't find your change. Frustrating to say the least.

Nothing that I know of.

Are you sure they're NoScript notifications? *What* do they say? (sample text or screenshot)

NoScript Options > Notifications > Uncheck "Show message about blocked scripts" and the two below it.

Is it a META redirect warning? What is in the Error Console, under blue "Messages" or "Info", pertaining to NoScript?

Hard to know without knowing what kind of pop-up, thanks.

Not sure what notifications you are referring to exactly, but nothing has changed so recently that you would be just encountering them. Plus you have almost full control of NS notifications and you can tweak how much and how little and by what means you want to see them or at all through Options|Notifications|Blocked/XSS/META/ABE/CC so just tweak them to your level of comfort and voila, done. So what exactly is your objection/problem?

I'm not sure if this is where my question belongs, but I'm having the opposite problem. Noscript is not showing me the options I used to have, even though in "Appearance" I have them all checked -- temporarily allow, etc. I am also starting to see strange results in the "recently blocked" listing. First of all, sometimes it's not there to click on. And when it is, stuff that I'm pretty sure should be there isn't. --then, later, it is.

I know I'm not making sense so here's an example: I went to look at this video:
http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colber ... ershare_fb

when I look at recently blocked sites, there's nothing there about colbertnation.com. But then when I go to another site and look again, colbertnation appears on the recently blocked list. It's as if noscript is one page behind me -- which isn't exactly helpful if I want to consider temporarily allowing stuff.

My attempts to fix this myself have included: disallowing McAfee site advisor, uninstalling and re-installing NoScript., and unchecking and re-checking all the appearance stuff. I'm in Firefox 9.0.1 under Win7.

Any ideas?
Thanks much --

Suppose that is expected.

It should & does appear on the list of domains to allow.

Allow colbernation.com & mtvnservices.com & the clip plays.

Well, perhaps it does for you. But my point is, it *doesn't* for me until after I fire up another tab with a different website that affects NoScript. By default I click on my yahoo login bookmark, which I know has all kinds of stuff I don't allow. THEN I can look at NoScript and the recently blocked sites list has on it the names of the things on the prior site that I might want to allow or temporarily allow. But I have to go that extra step and then return to the tab I actually want to look at. In other words, "recently blocked sites" doesn't include sites Noscript JUST blocked on the page I'm looking at. Colbertnation was one example. It happens all the time

It's annoying, it takes extra time, and it didn't work this way until last week.

I also never have "temporarily allow all this page" on my list, even though I do have that checked in the appearance options.

As therube pointed out, this is how the "recently blocked sites" submenu has been supposed to work since day one: it shows the most recent sites which have been blocked and which don't belong to the current page (or, at least, are not shown in the main menu).
The ones which NoScript JUST blocked on the page you're looking for are shown in the MAIN menu, as "Allow ..." menu items.
Doesn't it work this way for you?
If it doesn't, would you mind to share with me (by PM) a NoScript Options|Export file of yours (and optionally a screenshot of your NoScript menu)?
