I like the new redirect page (dev build only?)

Post by Tom T. »

After updating NS, was redirected here:
http://noscript.net/?ver=2.2.5rc2&prev=2.2.4rc4

Nice, clean page, and prominently at the top (with links included) was
Watch the video (courtesy of cnet), learn about its features, read the FAQ
But at the home page, noscript.net, which is the same as clicking "what is it", that didn't appear.

*Strongly* suggest that the above be added prominently to the top of the home page, to encourage prospective or novice users to watch the video.

Nobody reads any more, , but the links to the Features page and FAQ page might also encourage prospective users, and initiate new users with less difficulty than some have. And without their having to post here and being pointed to an FAQ, happy though we are to do that. 8-)

And the new title, All I Want for XSSMas -- LOL, though not everyone will get the joke. :D

Confirming that the release notes/redirect page in question, with links to the CNET video etc. as per OP, seems to be triggered only by updating from stable to latest development build, or from dev to stable.

Just updated from 2.2.5 to 2.2.6.rc2, and got this page:

http://noscript.net/?ver=2.2.6rc2&prev=2.2.5

Which indeed has the links to video, features, FAQ.

But updating stable to stable doesn't seem to do this, nor does a random visit to the home page.

And it appears only once or twice after updating, so clicking the above link may not produce the different page referred to in OP.

For example, the (obsolete) link in OP no longer leads to the page with the video links etc. at the top.
Presumably, a first-run (for a new build) feature only.
*Not* first-time-ever NS run , but only when changing between rc/stable, as above.

Why are they different? Seems like a bug.

And in any event, still strongly recommend that the home page and all update redirect pages go to the identical page, with the desirable
