[Resolved] Firefox 8.0 + NoScript 2.1.9 doesn't work

Post by youngdeks »

Dear colleagues,
I really love your add-on - it saved me many-many times from viruses and other stuff.

But it's strange - on Firefox 8.0 it doesn't work correctly! It simply blocks all the sites and it's impossible "To allow" them (the line is grey and in unclickable). The version of NoScript is 2.1.9.

Could you urgently help me? Because now I feel myself like having a sex without a condom! :)

Thanks!
Vadim

If you disable all other extensions except for NoScript, does it work?
What plugins do you have installed?

Therube, I disabled all add-ons (and enabled NoScript), but effect is the same. Even this site is blocked :) and I cannot unblock it.

Installed and enabled plugins:
CoolPreviews,
DownloadHelper,
Evernote,
Xmarks,
Yandex.Bar

Installed but disabled plugins:
NortonToolbar,
Symantec IPS

Thank you in advance for your help!

The information on the Yandex.Bar is very interesting:
About this Add-on
Be notified of new e-mail coming to your Yandex.Mail.
Bookmark the sites instantly and access your link collection from anywhere, or share the most interesting pages with your friends.
Have quick access to Yandex social services, like Ya.ru or Yandex.Fotki (the photo sharing site) and be notified of what’s hot on the service.

Use search-as-you-type suggestions and see where the words you’ve searched for are on a page, the toolbar will highlight the search phrase and scroll the page automatically to their location.

If you are a multiple languages user you will find convenient that the toolbar corrects the URL bar every time you type in non-latin symbols.

Be notified each time when sneaky malicious software tries to change your browser homepage without your permission.

Be informed about weather and traffic jams in Russian cities.
And the reviews are in Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet.

And yet, your post comes from an IP in Thailand.

And your username, "youngdeks", is a close phonetic match to "Yandex".

Perhaps I'm just the suspicious type (it's a necessity in the security field), but it seems like you're working towards spamming this add-on. Which with its promises of countering malware, might include malware of its own (or not), as many toolbars do.

Do you have a legitimate explanation, or do we just delete the posts and ban you now?

Most likely you changed the NoScript Options|Advanced|HTTPS|Behavior|Forbid active web content unless it comes from a secure (HTTPS) connection preference to "Always".
Just restore it to "Never", and you shold be fine.

Giorgio,
it works! Thank you very much for your help!

Tom,
you are indeed a professional in security. But in this particular case you are wrong (yes, I'm Russian and just on vacation in Thailand :) ).

Then I apologize.

I'm sure you can understand why it looked suspicious, but I'm very sorry.
I hope you will accept my apology.
