[CLOSED] Problems with ABE and Facebook

Post by Kisrah Ferraris »

I've been getting some odd messages on Facebook and various sites that connect with it. I've had to disable ABE for now because it's causing a lot of problems. The messages are causing my browser so far off screen I can't reach the end tabs, search bar, or the icon for NoScript!

Is there anything I can do to fix this so I can enable ABE again?

Do you mean, on-screen messages, like pop-ups or balloons? If so, what do they say? Even better, can you post screenshots, using your favorite image-upload site?
"pushing the browser off screen" is a bit puzzling. One picture is worth a thousand words ...

Please check Tools > Error Console and Web Developer console for pertinent errors and NoScript/ABE information messages. Copy and paste them here, thanks.

Also, please name some of these various sites, and tell us what steps to take to get the same messages. (What to click, what to allow/deny, etc.)

if you have written your own ABE rules, other than the default, please copy and post them here, too. This will make trouble-shooting much easier.

Heh. Well I just enabled ABE again to get screenshots, but now it's not happening. Seems to have fixed itself. It came on suddenly, so maybe it was an error with Facebook that has since been fixed.

It was a message at the top of the screen. Darkish beige background with the ABE icon at the left of the text. If it happens again I'll get screenshots, but it looked like a lot of it wasn't visible because of the browser stretching off-screen.

I can't find anything relevant in the error console. Nothing relating to Facebook or NoScript/ABE. Haven't written any rules for ABE. I've got some exceptions for XSS, but none directly related to Facebook.

Thanks anyway. If I start having problems with it again I'll know what info to get next time. :)

OK, thanks for posting back. I'll mark the topic as "Closed", just to let the rest of the team know that no further action is required at this time. But if it does recur, you can just post it here and re-open the topic -- it won't be "locked". And you're welcome. :)
