Hello!
I love NoScript but the part I find very frustrating is determining which scripts I need to run all the fiddleybits on a page. (which combination of allowed domains I need to load the comments, which single domain runs the video content out of the dozens of advertisers, ect...)
I think it would be great if it NoScript could partner with or connect to the WebOfTrust Firefox extension (WOT). (For those who are not familiar with WOT, it displays a little circle next to hyperlinks and the color indicates how much other users trust the site. Green for trusted, orange for not trusted, and red for dangerous.)
Whenever the user clicked on the NoScript icon, the list of domains would be displayed with a color indicator next to it. This would provide NoScript users with a quick easy way to determine which sites are probably the content and which should stay disabled.
If using the WOT system is not an option then perhaps there would be a way to replicate some of the functionality. A method to allow NoScript users to crowdsource using simple color indicators about which domains are useful and which are not without resorting to tedious testing of each one.

FAQ 1.11:
This post points to a list of about 100 ad agencies that you might wish to block, and offers other suggestions for researching permanent additions to your Untrusted list. Add them once, and you'll never be bothered by them again.
It also offers some non-NoScript ideas for third-party services which actually block the browser's attempt to connect to known malware sites.

offers direct link to WOT plus four other ratings sites.Starting with version 1.9.9.61, NoScript offers a "Site Info" page which can help you to assess the trustworthyness of the web sites shown in your NoScript menu. You can access this service by middle-clicking or shift-clicking the relevant menu item.

Re: feature request: WOT links
Thank you for the help Tom T. I am aware of the feature to get more detailed information but I was wondering if there could be something more simple in the menu itself.
Instead of having to read about each site or try each one successively, there could be a simple color indicator in the drop down menu. Green for content, orange for advertising, red for dangerous, and grey for unknown. Having a "trust" indicator beside each item in the menu would be very helpful for making quick decisions, hence the feature request.

But not everything falls into a single category. Is data-mining "dangerous"? It doesn't harm your machine, only your privacy. Some advertising may be no more than that; some includes data-mining or even spyware. Some "content" may be privacy-invasive. Also, differences of opinion. For example, the WOT add-on says that I'll "be protected from links at Google searches". Yet IMHO *only*, Google is dangerously privacy-invasive itself. So I'm not going to allow it (or use it), no matter what color the majority gives it. ... Also, ballot-box stuffing is not unheard of at ratings sites. And surely NS itself cannot be expected to analyze and color-code all trillion scripts from all billion web sites on the planet.

Having given my personal opinion, in the end it will be NoScript Developer Giorgio Maone who will decide whether to implement any such feature, such as integrating with the WOT add-on.
Thank you for your suggestion, and for your interest in, and support of, NoScript.

WONTFIX in 2.x, possibly to be re-evaluated as an opt-in in 3.x.
