allowing middle-click paste of links on linux

Post by johnea »

Hello There,

NoScript is great!

I'm sure this is discussed somewhere, but I couldn't find it in this forum, or via a broader net search.

I use NoScript in seamonkey on linux.

I often double click a link written anywhere in text, this marks the link text and copies it into the system copy buffer. Then I can jump to that link via a middle-click in any blank space on a displayed web page (space that is not a link or button). This pastes the link from the copy buffer into the browser, which jumps to the URL.

I find this to be a great improvement in user interface, and a great example of the advantages of running software that isn't written with the intention of exploiting the user.

Needless to say, NoScript is preventing the pasting of URLs via middle click.

Is there some way to disable NoScripts interception of middle click, and allow middle click to paste URLs into the browser?

Thank You!

johnea

I'm sorry that this fell between the cracks. I'm not Linux-friendly, but we'll get a team member who is. Thank you for your patience.

Just tested on Seamonkey 2.4.1 + Ubuntu 11.10 + NS 2.1.5, and this feature works as expected (both on allowed and forbidden pages).
Are you sure the culprit isn't somewhere else?
May I suggest Standard Diagnostic?
