Something ? sends pages into permanent loading

Post by therube »

Something ? sometimes, sends pages into permanent loading state.

Is this a NoScript related issue?
Thinking it is not uncommon for sites to show as permanently loading - at times. Amazon (music) & Yahoo (mail) come to mind. Not always, but often enough. NoScript related too? (Kind of remember a post where the person said they kept the Status Bar Label <?> enabled to prevent permanent loading.

Re: Something ? sends pages into permanent loading

I believe there are some elements of NS in this as it happens enough for me to have narrowed it down to it, but I can't say for sure WHAT causes it. For example, you load a page, get nothing but a blank page, I mean NOTHING and the DOM shows it has finished loading, you do view source its there, but NOTHING on the screen and reloading it does nothing but send that stupid animated tab loading thing going forever. The only way I have been able to fix it, is to close the tab and open the link in a new tab and it works, USUALLY. The funny part is that the items for that page show up in the NS menu but NO PAGE content actually shows. With NS disabled, it never happens. There is some kind of a painting or resolution issue somewhere, not sure what but it has not happened in a couple of RC builds so I am hoping it was just a glitch of all the tweaking that resolved itself. Now before I get the barrage of maybe the page needs JS to load and look fine, NO. It doesn't. Even without the JS the core of the page should and does load fine. As of 11+ hours ago a friend told me that with NS several pages using AJAX for reloading, example Facebook and its new asinine look, tend to go into these permanent trying to load but nothing happens. The only way to fix it is to hard reload the page (not F5), URL, enter instead and it will load the page but often trying to get the ajax function to do its thing will go back to that eternal loop. I am thinking its a problem with handling client side scripts that are not often loaded originally with the page and come later. Hope that sheds some light, although no solution.
