Youtube and ytimg added to whitelist on "reset"

Post by Chaos »

Hello. I just noticed something strange today. Normally youtube and ytimg are not part of the white list. I always give them temporary authorization. I accidentally gave them permanent status today . WOOPS! So i went into my whitelist and just to make things easier I hit "reset" which defaults the program and whitelist. (I tend to do this from time to time just to make sure I didn't accidentally add something w/o realizing). Youtube and ytimg were not removed.

I manually removed them and things went back to normal but this kind of irked me. I hit "reset" again and the program defaulted and sure enough.. youtube and ytimg got added back to the white list!! I went down stairs to my secondary computer, which I rarely use since my parents tend to use it, and checked out the noscript default that hasn't been touched in over a month. Sure enough youtube and ytimg are not listed. I hit "reset" and BOOM youtube and ytimg were added as permanent on the whitelist!

I never recall youtube or ytimg being part of the whitelist and even the noscript FAQ does not include them as part of the whitelist default. This problem was not present in any prior version; so the only thing I can think of is that v2.1.2.7 might be the reason since I had just updated to that at release. I already unistalled the add-on and reinstalled... uninstalled everything and firefox and went fresh. BOTH computers have the same issue. One is running Vista 64bit the other Windows XP.

Have youtube and ytimg just been added to the whitelist and maybe I just didn't see the note on it? or did I stumble onto a bug? Or did I somehow hit some random button and sent the warp core into overload?

On the default whitelist of current versions they are indeed:

And here for NoScript 1.10:
pref("noscript.default", "about:blank about:credits addons.mozilla.org flashgot.net google.com gstatic.com googleapis.com googlesyndication.com informaction.com yahoo.com yimg.com yahooapis.com maone.net noscript.net hotmail.com msn.com passport.com passport.net passportimages.com live.com js.wlxrs.com");

Haha.. sorry about that then! I must of just never realized it.

As for the list? that's strange because i go here
http://noscript.net/faq#qa1_5

and it is not listed there at all. I think that's what ended up throwing me for a loop because I never had a problem before and I must of just forgot that I remove it after every default. :shock: I now must come to terms that I am becoming forgetful! *cry*

Anyhow, thanks for clarifying.

Seems like this FAQ entry needs an update, I guess Giorgio will do it after he's done with reaching his current NoScript 3 milestones http://noscript.net/nsa/#roadmap.
