Duplications bug
Duplications bug
An issue I'm noticing with Flashgot, when downloading several videos from a streaming video website, Flashgot doesn't seem to be able to remove past download links.
For example, looking at an index page, clicking 'video 1', right click-> flashgot media. then going back to the index page, clicking 'video 2', if i right click and go flashgot media, often (but not always) one of two things happens:
either flashgot downloads the same file as the previous video, and not the video on the page, or it displays 'Flashgot media (2)'and lets me choose between two files (which often can't be distinguished between due to the filenames being 200 characters of code), and i have to figure out which is the correct one, and which is the previous video (the order seems random, sometimes the correct video is at the top, other times the bottom)
When downloading say 10 videos from the site, this can get up to 'Flashgot media (8)' and i have a long list to choose between, or alternatively I end up with about 7 or 8 copies of the first video, and 2 or 3 of the second, none of the others.
I'm having to painstakingly check the filesize of each video and re-do it to get the correct video, sometimes as many as 5 or 6 times due to this bug re-occurring.
I'd like this to be fixed in an update please!

Re: Duplications bug
This may happen if all the videos are loaded by the same web page, as FlashGot remembers all the streams it can see starting on a certain page until you unload.
If this is the case, you may want to use the "Clear" command between downloads.

Interesting, where's this clear command located? I should point out the main reason that this is an issue is that I normally queue large numbers of files such that I do not need to continuously monitor the PC to download a large number of videos.

Re: Duplications bug
"Clear" is the second menu item if your right click on the FlashGot Media icon.
However I'm considering not to queue all the videos anymore but showing only the last played one for a certain page, because this seems less confusing to many users (albeit less powerful than the current behavior).
May I ask you what's the site where you're experiencing these issues?

Re: Duplications bug
The site was gameanyone - I've found a bit more about it though, it only happens when a download is starting with downthemall, i.e.
when you first start downloading a file (at least with multiple connections being used per-file) for the first 2-10 seconds depending on how large the file is, firefox's CPU usage will max out, and the transfer rate will be 10-20KB/s, presumably because the file is being created. Once this process ends, if you then browse to the next page containing the next video, you will only be presented with the correct download link. The duplicate links only show up when another file is starting. It does not occur if the download is already in progress (>5%)

Adding to this, this behaviour applies to links from gameanyone's own site. When they use youtube cache links, all videos currently in progress (even beyond 5%) are in the list, so you would have to wait for the first file to finish entirely before moving to the next page to prevent it.samuelmorris wrote:The site was gameanyone - I've found a bit more about it though, it only happens when a download is starting with downthemall, i.e.

Re: Duplications bug
Please check FlashGot 1.3.1, which should fix an actual bug affecting both the built-in download manager and DTA and resembling the issue you reported.

Is this a recent release? 1.3.1 is apparently the version I already have installed

New as of the time Giorgio posted, Sun Sep 04, 2011 5:02 pm, so after the earlier replies, so newer then what you had at the time.
