Reload issue with 2.1.2.5rc1 - bug or intentional?

Post by GµårÐïåñ »

Giorgio, I am not sure if this is something that is intentional or a bug with this release but since the installation of this build, when you have multiple tabs open for the same site and you allow things on one tab, it does NOT reload and make effective those choices on the other tabs of the same domain. I recall this was always available and automatic, did something change?

Info:
  • Firefox 5
  • NoScript 2.1.2.5rc1
  • Fresh/Clean profile
  • noscript.autoReload.allTabs;true
noscript.autoReload.allTabsOnGlobal;true (tested with false, no difference)
    noscript.autoReload.allTabsOnPageAction;true

WFM, SeaMonkey 2.2 & FF 5.

The defaults for those prefs have been unchanged since (at least) noscript-1.10.xpi.

Well I gave you my settings, this is a fresh profile with the latest build, I know it was working before, but it isn't now. Hence why I asked. I have done the debugging, as I said, fresh profile, so nothing to really debug, just one addon. I have a profile for just testing NS, so when I encounter a problem, I load that up, put in the new version and run with it and see what happens. If I still encounter the issue, I reset and run with it and see what happens. If it continues, I delete the whole profile, start a new one and go with it, like this one. When it still won't work, I have eliminated pretty much any other cause.

The only thing that shows up in the console is this:
Couple of these:
[NoScript] Blocking refresh on unfocused tab, http://forum.xda-developers.com/login.php?do=login->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16092447
A whole bunch of these:
Warning: Selector expected. Ruleset ignored due to bad selector.
Source File: http://forums.informaction.com/style.php?id=3&lang=en
Line: 3778
I am not some novice, I am telling you it was working fine until Installed this latest build and voila, it stopped working. The only other thing I can think of which shouldn't matter but I have checked and still doesn't change anything is that for this profile I have set the option: noscript.stickyUI.liveReload;true - other than that, there has been no change whatsoever from my previous configurations.

but I have checked and still doesn't change anything is that for this profile I have set the option: noscript.stickyUI.liveReload;true
Check again.

Did a reset
Set prefs as per #0

Test & works

Set noscript.stickyUI.liveReload;true

Test & only the current tab refreshes

(tested with false, no difference)
That is wrong.

It is the combination of both changes; (noscript.stickyUI.liveReload;true AND noscript.autoReload.allTabsOnGlobal;true) where it manifests itself.

(What liveReload does I'm not sure, so if the behavior seen is correct or not, I don't know.)

:-)

Maybe.

If you Ctrl+Shift+\, then all the tabs refreshes.
If you Allow/Forbid for the NoScript icon, then only the current tab refreshes. (I guess that's what the stickyUI.liveReload setting does.)

No, you were right on that, makes no difference.
It is the combination of both changes; (noscript.stickyUI.liveReload;true AND noscript.autoReload.allTabsOnGlobal;true) where it manifests itself.
That too is wrong.

It is the noscript.stickyUI.liveReload preference & how you toggle the permission - via shortcut or by icon.

@therube, thank you for lending another pair of eyes to verify this, I appreciate that.

(Ah back to the 'ol 696969. Yesterday I noticed it was different, one of those "generic" strings. I was going to ask about that ;-).)

Yeah, its only matter of time before we all fall back old habits ;) But mostly its the testing profile and so the generic string showed because it was a fresh profile, but eventually the configurations begin to trickle back in. Usually the case when I have to dump a profile for the sake of debugging and start over. You know what I just realized, my attempt at the ying yang effect can be taken as something else too  oh well ...
