Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
I updated to Firefox 3.5 beta 4 yesterday (from beta 3) and experienced some problems in the download dialog as you can see on this picture:
http://picfront.org/d/eLXAuRwZu/Firefox.png
As far as I know the developers changed the look of the download dialog a bit. I hope this will be fixed.
EDIT:
This only seems to occur with .exe files.

Re: Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
Not seeing a problem here:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b5pre) Gecko/20090429 Shiretoko/3.5b5pre
(Note, I used 3.5b5pre rather then 3.5 beta 4.)
Perhaps theme related?
Actually there was another thread where this happened too ...?
Here, A problem which might be caused by flashgot.
Actually more ... I came across a bug that affected SeaMonkey - but only when the (XP) OS theme was "Windows Classic" (which is what I use) so perhaps you (two) not using that, do see this bug?

Re: Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
Well, I tried a portable version of the new beta and this is how it looks there:
http://picfront.org/d/JKLrs5JiQ4l/Firefox.png
I don't know if it's a bug or something, but it seems that the download dialog has changed. In previous versions you could select "Open", but this option is now gone. The problem in the thread you posted is exactly the same I have. However, I don't use any themes; and my other extensions don't change the option dialog. Could this be a bug in Firefox itself?

Maybe something here ...
Bug 346179 - Weird download dialog when downloading *.dmg files
Bug 315536 - "do this automatically for files like this from now on" often grayed out

Re: Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
I tried it with some .exe files from this server and this problem occurs everytime. However, there are no problems with .dmg files (maybe just on MacOS X?). It's pretty strange as only .exe files are affected. Here's a screenshot:
http://picfront.org/d/63VPBVNKH/Firefox.png
The bugs you posted are pretty old ... But the problems with .dmg files seems to be similiar. In the thread you posted T Y used a newer build than the beta and he experienced the problem; you didn't with an older build (maybe the new "look" wasn't implemented yet). Maybe it's already fixed in newer builds? Is there already some kind of pre rc available? I think Mozilla removed the pre beta 5 from their servers (at least I couldn't find it today, but I think I saw it yesterday).

Still everything (the dialog box) looks fine for me; dz, exe, dmg, u3p.

It's a bug.
Changing to (Windows) XP theme (the default UGG theme) & the problem appears.

(So who's bug is it? FF or FG?)
(The same occurs in 3.5b5pre.)

Re: Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
Interesting ... This is exactly how my download dialog looks if I enable (first picture)/disable (second picture) FlashGot. So, it's a problem with the standard theme? A very strange bug as I'm running Vista (or does the os not matter?) ... Is this bug fixed in the version you use (pre beta 5) as you didn't experience it? Let's hope they already fixed it because this gets very annoying over time .

Re: Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
The problem exists (at the least) in Windows XP & Windows Vista.
In order to manifest itself, Windows must be using the Windows XP Theme (or Vista equivalent thereof).
Desktop | Properties | Themes -> XP Theme
If you are using Windows Classic Theme, then you will not see this issue.
(Note I am talking about Windows itself, not FF.)
Exists in both FF3.5b4 & FF3.5b5pre & 3.6a1.
Does not happen in SeaMonkey 1.1.x, 2, nor in FF 2, 3.0.x.
So the problem does exist, & is not fixed.
Need to determine if the problem is on FF's end or on FlashGot's end or both.
(I'll assume that it is a FF issue & that any extension that similarly modifies <adds> text to that dialog will end up with the same sort of issue.)
And ideas like this, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347232#c5 &
Bug 293804 - Attachment with unknown MIME type but known extension: TB should not presume types are identical &
Bug 366879 - GetFromTypeAndExtension(): mimeinfo for extension via mimeTypes.rdf should Always Ask

Ok, so it's now clear that this bug exists. Is there already a bug report on Mozilla's bug tracker?

Re: Interface "bug" with Firefox 3.5 beta 4
This is not a Firefox bug nor a FlashGot bug, it's just an incompatible change happened in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344984
I'll take care of this later today.

DaKo, you might not be aware of this, but an emergency situation came up in regard to NoScript, so I would expect that Giorgio did not have a chance to get to this. He was up all night getting out the latest NoScript build to address the issue, and (I hope) is sleeping soundly at the moment. (it's early afternoon in Palermo.)DaKo wrote:Any news ?
Please be patient. If it isn't addressed within another two days, please feel free to post another reminder.
Thank you for your patience.

Sorry, I didn't know . I will post again in a few days if the issue isn't solved in the meantime.
BTW: I know what time it is in Italy as I'm from Germany (same time zone) . I hope he soaks up the sun to be fit again .
