just installed noscript and its pretty overwhelming with all of the blockings. idk which scripts are legit and which ones are malicious. is there a beginner's guide or something one can start from? i just got a nasty virus from an ad on megaupload that was hard to get rid of and im just trying to prevent something like that again. or would something like adblock be better suited for my needs?
or do i just allow stuff i need until my browsing experience is pretty much uninterrupted?
is there a profile i can download for whitelists

Does this help?
NOSCRIPT QUICK START GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS
Edit: I also recommend Adblock Plus with the EasyList or Fanboy's List subscription. I use Adblock Plus and NoScript simultaneously.
