Would you trust this horrid website?

Post by Unregistered »

I came across this website today, they offer a Firefox add-on that claims to block Javascript. I'm not sure I can trust it though, the design looks like 1999 and it seems full of Spy- and Malware with all those banner ads:

Are there any other add-ons to block Javascript that look more trustful?

Somehow I agree with you and I remember being a tad irritated by the design and the typical-ad-talk back in ~2006.

But let's have a look at the sites from other security-related add-ons:

Undoubtedly, but I wouldn't trust them. :)
The best professional crooks put up websites which are very modern looking and perfectly mimic safe, mainstream sites, so I never trust a site based on its looks. Instead I go by its reputation as researched by a web search, various forums, and site reputation tools. Even then I still use Sandboxie to protect the integrity of my computer.

Since NoScript has a pretty good reputation, I feel relatively safe using it, even though its developer is one of The Internet's 10 most dangerous people you don't know.

Ditto to Alan's post!

I am so very thankful to Giorgio Maone for Noscript as well as the support always given here on the forum.

Too funny about the Internets' 10 most dangerous people you don't know! I knew I was never safe anywhere anyway and now I know just bit more of why! LOL

Also was a noscript sighting I missed!

Thank you Alan and always thank you to Giorgio!

I know that people get really touchy about their own web sites, but yeah; No Script's is horribly ugly.

Suggestions to the thread starter: If you are a web designer, offer a gratis redesign to il dottore. You get a credit at the bottom of the page (free advertising for you). Or, you can make a big donation so that the web master won't have to take on so much advertising anymore

You have a developer dedicated to putting food on the table for his family with his REAL job and yet he dedicates all these hours free, with little to no payoff to give you a state of the art and kick ass addon and you are worried about the website looking pretty? Are you daft or something? Who gives a shit what it looks like, because he is busy making what matters, THE ADDON, the best it can be instead of gussy up the website so some idiot can decide sight unseen, ooh pretty site, so it must be trustworthy. Are you an idiot? You judge a book by its cover? Look at the thousands who have endorsed it, millions who use it and love it, the security and the massive protection it provides without charging you for it, and then make the decision. Anyone can get a website in a can nowadays that "looks cool" but anyone who took the time to ACTUALLY code their own site, has more self respect in my eyes than a point and click out of a can idiot who is trying to get you to get their crap just because it looks pretty. Just saying, remove head from orifice and then speak.
