NoScript and online payments
NoScript and online payments
If I make an online payment is it possible that something goes wrong (like the shop not receiving the money even though I've effectively paid) because I've not yet given permission to the payment site?

Re: NoScript and online payments
JavaScript only needs to be Allowed where it is needed.
Now how do you know?
You don't necessarily. But mainly if something doesn't work correctly.
What online payment site?
Assuming that you've received a normal confirmation that the payment was processed, you have to figure that all was successful.
If you click "Pay" & something odd happens, or nothing, then you've got to figure that something went awry.

Thank you for the reply.
Luckily I never had a similar problem, so my question is just for curiosity.

For example, if I fill all the information needed for a payment, then I click the "pay button", and the site which loads doesn't have permission, can something wrong happen? Or will it work fine once I've given the correct permissions? What worries me is that the page has to reload.therube wrote:JavaScript only needs to be Allowed where it is needed. If you click "Pay" & something odd happens, or nothing, then you've got to figure that something went awry.

Yes.

Possibly.

Would worry me too.
There really is no answer until you try, though "trying" is not something you necessarily want to do, so its like a catch-22.
Over time, you kind of get a feel for what is needed. Can't hurt to take a peek & see what is blocked prior to clicking the final "Submit" button (or even on the page prior to the page where you click "Submit"). If you see something that looks like it may be needed, Temporarily Allow it. Could be something like "verifiedbyvisa" or "akaimi.net" or some domain that sounds related to the site you're on. So if it is "superjellyroll.com" & you see "superjellyrollstore", you may want to allow the latter.
(Those names I mentioned are just examples & not to be taken as correct, even the names themselves may be wrong.)

I guess it is like you say, let's hope it never happens.therube wrote:There really is no answer until you try, though "trying" is not something you necessarily want to do, so its like a catch-22.
