I have been a happy user of NoScript for well 1-2 years. So, naturally, when I received my new laptop about 3 months ago, I installed Firefox 4 and then NoScript.
However, I've had this intermittent problem and only now have found, I think, the circumstances that cause it, so now am reporting...
The Option button on the lower right of the screen would mysteriously "freeze" every once in a while. By freeze, I mean that on the popup bar along the bottom when there are scripts not allowed or are partially allowed, the Options button on that would appear, but clicking on it would not bring up the menu of scripts I could allow...nothing seemed to happen. Only closing and starting FF would seem to resolve this. Also, when it occurs, this would also be true for all tabs in the FF 'session. It is significantly annoying as by the time I'd run into this I would have several tabs open and any further browsing would be curtailed if it had a script that I could not allow.
This problem appears to happen in this unique circumstance: 1. a web page is refreshing; 2. at the same time, on that tab, I click on Options button; 3. the web page refresh completes before I am able to make a selection from the menu of a script to allow.
Indirectly related, but a different problem was the fact that I could only allow one script at a time. There are pages that have multiple scripts that I may want to allow, however, there are times when there is a lag between selecting one from the menu and the refresh in the web page (confusingly, there are times when nothing seems to happen too, but NoScript reports that the script is allowed), hence the window of opportunity for the above problem to occur. Not sure if there is a way to multi-select scripts, which might mitigate this, and/or some feedback mechanism to show that it is to be processed/in process.
I have FF History option set to "Never Remember History" which, I understand, does not allow cookies. This tends to trigger more popups for scripts vs my experience with my old laptop and prior version of FF. Perhaps overly cautious, but have been living with that.
I have looked at other posts, including general troubleshooting, but they either did not resolve, or were not directly this problem.
Will be looking for suggestions to prevent or indication that this is recognized as an item that will be logged for a fix.

- When this happens, could you check whether your Tools>Error Console shows any NoScript-related error?
- Sites can be multi-selected using any menu of NoScript's except the one from the Options button (which you're using). My advice is switching to the toolbar button (you can put it anywhere you want by using the right-click "Customize" command on any toolbar), because NoScript 3 will probably remove both the notification bar and the Options button.

Are you left-clicking, right-clicking, or hoovering the NoScript icon?
Left-click, by default (can be disabled), allows multiple selections.
Right-click only allows one.
Hoovering acts like a left-click.
If a page is loading as you click the icon, & as domains load, it should automatically refresh showing the newly added domains.

Including the Status Bar, bottom right, where it belongs
?

Heresy, I say, heresy! (Rereading I'm not sure I know what they are?)

Yes, if no legacy unamovable icon is there in the soon-to-be deprecated status bar widget.therube wrote: Including the Status Bar, bottom right, where it belongs?
The Yellow "Scripts forbidden" or "Script partially allowed" yellow bar with an [Options] button inside.therube wrote: > NoScript 3 will probably remove both the notification bar and the Options button

I like your suggestion, but I have only two choices that show up: 1. Temporarily allow all; 2. Revoke Temporary Permissions. Is there supposed to be a third that would provide a drop down to select from a list of scripts to allow?Giorgio Maone wrote:

BTW, I've not hit the problem to check the error console, but will let you know what I find when I do encounter it.

There would be a list of domains to allow, not scripts.

Yes it is. If you can't find it in the Toolbar Customization Palette, chance are it is already in one of your toolbars, either the navigation toolbar or the add-on toolbar which you may need to show from the View menu.Long Time User wrote: I like your suggestion, but I have only two choices that show up: 1.
