Since the latest NoScript update (2.1.0.5) was automatically installed on my computer - which runs on XP - the google toolbar search history does not drop down, and so the search history can not be seen or erased.
I have disabled all of my Firefox Add-Ons and re-enabled them selectively to see if they were the cause of the changed behaviour in the google toolbar search .. and the problem exists only when NoScript is enabled.
There is another reason to suspect that NoScript is causing the conflict because the problem with the google toolbar began around the time when version 2.1.0.5 became available (my machine is set up so that it automatically installs).

Re: NoScript conflict with google toolbar history
Did you check whether downgrading actually helps?
Did you try whitelisting file://?

Re: NoScript conflict with google toolbar history
Since your message I did go back to version 2.1.0.3 .. and there was no improvement. I then tried going back to version 2.1 .. still no success. So something else must have changed.
By the way, when I disable NoScript, the google toolbar search history does show up .. so it is being saved even though it doesn't display when NoScript is enabled.
I don't understand what you are suggesting that I might try when you ask:"Did you try whitelisting file://?"
As a guess, I did try going to the whitelist in the options and inserting <file://> .. which I don't really suspect is what you intended .. but that didn't work.

Re: NoScript conflict with google toolbar history
I upgraded to 2.1.1 since going back to previous versions from a time that was long before the problem showed up didn't solve the problem.
I then went over what I did one more time to make sure when the problem showed up.
I disabled all add-ons except google toolbar and NoScript .. and the google toolbar dropdown history did not work .. even though the history is remembered.
When I then disable NoScript, (leaving only the google toolbar enabled) the google toolbar drop down search history shows up again.
When I enable all of the other add-ons (except NoScript) the google toolbar drop down search history drop down menu still works.
So the problem exists only when NoScript is enabled.
Thanks for your help on this.

Re: NoScript conflict with google toolbar history
Just thinking out loud, since the item installed as an addon, have you checked to see if "chrome:" or "resource://XXX" (where xxx refers to whatever google namespace is being used) are whitelisted? I know with several addons, those two are required for certain function and although generally chrome is part of the NoScript default list, the resource is not (AFAIK), so check those to be sure?

Re: NoScript conflict with google toolbar history
GµårÐïåñ: Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a novice at this, so please bear with me.
"chrome:" is whtelisted but "resource://xxx" is not.
As I said, I'm a novice, so I need some detailed coaching. I don't know how to find out what google namespace is being used, so I don't know exactly what to add to the whitelist. How do I find out?
I wonder, though, whether the problem has anything to do with the whitelist, and whether it is not, instead, some sort of conflict with other software.
I say this because the google toolbar itself does work.
Let me be a bit clearer about it. The google toolbar does in fact store the search terms that I enter even when NoScript is enabled - it's just that the drop down menu with the stored history will not function when NoScript is enabled. As soon as I disable NoScript, all of the google searches that I did while NoScript was enabled do display (that is, the drop down menu does work). That suggests to me that nothing related to the search history is being blocked from entering the computer from the internet. The problem is just that the google toolbar history menu won't drop down when NoScript is enabled - and that suggests to me that there is a conflict with other software that prevents the drop-down history menu from displaying..
I've used NoScript for quite some time, and I've come to rely on it for a sense of security. I'd rather have NoScript working than the google toolbar drop down history, but it would be nice to have things working as they did a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for the help.
