New NoScript Problems

Post by shannara777 »

I am having exactly the same problem, by the sounds of it. When I tried to use firefox yesterday, my home pages did not load - I just got a blank tab. My back & forward buttons would not work. My tabs would not open as they usually do and my menu buttons would not work properly. After deleting places.sqlite references in my firefox profile and still having no luck, I ended up uninstalling firefox completely, including the registry, and then reinstalling. After reinstalling my add-ons one by one, I found that noscript caused the problem to reoccur. So I have had no choice but to disable it. And that's why i'm here - surfing without no script is an awful experience. I have been so spoiled by years of using noscript, and now my pages are loading slowly and i'm seeing all these ads I never even knew existed - and it's killing me!

I need a fix for this and hope someone out there has some good ideas. :)

First, try reverting to NoScript 2.1.0.1, especially if you're using the Yahoo Toolbar.

Yahoo toolbar conflict with NoScript

If that doesn't work, follow the General Troubleshooting Instructions.

Having the same problem since installing the latest update. When opening Firefox I get a blank page & nothing in the address bar. If I click on any symbol in any of my toolbars I get to the correct page but nothing is shown in the address box & neither the forward/reverse nor reload buttons work.Disabling NoScript solves the problem. I'm using windows xp sp3.

Sure? Could you double check that it says "2.1.0.3rc2" when you open "About NoScript"?

I lost almost an hour playing with this problem yesterday, but maybe I've tripped over something useful.
After somehow getting past the problem, I had it again after I'd discovered there had been a NoScript update.

This time I clicked on "Firefox "Tools\Options" and clicked on "Manage Add-Ons" on the lower part of the "General" Tab page and my prior tabs all opened and Firefox 4.0 worked as normal! You are just left with original window that is "non-standard" with no home page which you can close & go on as usual.

Still looking forward to the release that fixes this.

Thanks,
Ken

Again, did you check latest development build?

There are definitely some funky problems using the latest update -- and latest devel build -- on Fx4.

I kept getting "This page has temporarily moved to a new location. Click here to go to the new location" which then takes me to a "Permanently moved" page with another link to go to the new location which eventually loads the page I was trying to get to. I've was having this problem with Google Calendar, our Google Apps domain management page, and also our WordPress Blog login page and preview pages.

Trying the latest devel build, v2.1.0.3rc3 resulted in no improvement; I had to downgrade to v2.1.0.2 to resolve the problem.

Do these problems persist on a clean profile with just NoScript installed?

Please see below given link.

http://www.nftevellore.org/

This also has a hit counter on top, which links to http://www.free-website-hit-counters.com/ to get the counters. In the past the other domains were not able to run their scripts, but in the new version (2.1.0.2) I have noticed that the counter is still able to display the hits, despite noscript showing it in 'recently blocked sites'. (None of these sites are whitelisted).

For hit counters, this is not a problem, but if the same happens with a malware linked site, it could be a problem, so you may wish to look into it.

That site doesn't seem to have or link any script.
The counter is delivered as a normal images, so there's no reason for NoScript to block it.
