Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
Well, I did #1. What happened is that for some reason on restart FF auto-attempted to start in safe mode. I don't really know what safe mode does and didn't really want to do that for fear of losing my saved session info again (,which I'd just spent some time restoring manually), so I just hit exit/cancel. I don't know why merely resetting NS would have caused FF to try to start in safe mode tho. Anyway, I restarted it again, and that time I got a normal start up, no attempt to enter safe mode. I then tried with both NS and yahoo toolbar enabled, and got the same problem as before - browser runs fine with either one enabled alone, but the problem recurs with both enabled.Alan Baxter wrote:Here's what I would do in your situation.mtp wrote: Also the process described there is what 2 of us have essentially done - not safe mode per se, but at least disabling all extensions. In one case so far that seems to have shown a problem with NS alone, in another, instead an apparent conflict with the current version yahoo toolbar.
1) Reset the whitelist and all NoScript settings by pressing the Reset button at the bottom of the NoScript Options window.
2) If that doesn't solve the problem, then create a new profile -- for testing at least. Don't change any of the profile's settings or modify it in any other way.
Install only NoScript and don't change any of its settings.
Let us know when you've done that and we can proceed from there.
So I tried #2. #2 doesn't seem to be very clearly be a real "fresh start", b/c after making a brand new "clean profile" and opening browser under that one, there are already a bunch of add-ons installed (NS wasn't one of them) on first start, even tho as you'd asked, I didn't install them or do anything to modify the new profile. Disabling all those default-installed ones and installing NS gave a normal startup in the test profile. Don't know what that tells us tho, since I could already get a normal start with the old profile, so long as I don't have the yahoo toolbar extension enabled.
Maybe the other fellow who disabled all his but got problems even when he re-enabled NS alone can try #1 &/or #2, and it will give you more info.

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
I think the conflict is between stylish and noscript (but i might be wrong)

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
Go to "about:support", click "Open Containing Folder" next to "Profile Directory", there look for "sessionstore.js" (after closing, ie. saving the session Firefox preferably) and create a backup copy.mtp wrote:didn't really want to do that for fear of losing my saved session info again

Thanks. For me, that solves the problem, just stick with the previous version until this gets resolved.Alan Baxter wrote:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/mtp wrote:I don't find any archive of downloadable prior versions. Is there one?

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
I have this problem too. I'm using FF 3.6 with Yahoo Toolbar. I always open up on my homepage. This morning Noscript updated and now I have a problem. FF now opens with a blank page, until I click the home button. The homepage then appears but the address bar remains blank. I can type an address in and it will work, but if I open a bookmark, use the back button or change tabs, the address bar continues to display whatever I typed in. These problems go away if I disable either Yahoo toolbar or Noscript. Definitely a conflict - can we have the old one back please?

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
My previous assumption was right, Stylish and (the latest) NoScript have a conflict but its mostly from NoScript's part since when i disable NoScript my FF4 works properly but when i disable Stylish FF4 works ok but with some problems.

Forgot to say, it also prevents private browsing being started. However, I've just re-installed 2.1.0.1 and everything is now OK.

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
Just saw the replies so i tried what was suggested.
Suggestion #1- Reset whitelist but got the same problem
Suggestion #2- Created a new profile with a fresh FF4. Installed NoScript.... and no problem?!
FF4 & NoScript working fine on the test profile. So why should it be conflicting with something on my main profile even with all other add-ons disabled? What do you think?
Just for info I do not have yahoo toolbar add-on like some of these other fellows.

I don't know. There may be something else wrong with your main profile.mdemon wrote:Just saw the replies so i tried what was suggested.

In your test profile, add the extensions you use in your main profile one at a time, testing for your problem after each additional extension. If you find a conflicting extension, please report back here with your result. If you're able to install all of your desired extensions into the test profile with no problem, then start using it as your main profile. You may want to transfer your bookmarks and saved passwords from your broken main profile to the new profile.

I've done this just a few times over the past few years, but it's always solved the problem.

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
I confirmed that there's a conflict between the NoScript 2.1.0.2 and the Yahoo Toolbar. Rolling back to NoScript 2.1.0.1 seems to fix the problem.

Re: Firefox 4 has many problems with Noscript
OP's problem, the one quoted bellow:Giorgio Maone wrote:Which problem, exactly?Guest wrote:I had the same problem but i dont have Yahoo toolbar (just wanted to let you know).
Even though im not using the Yahoo Toolbar (Noscript is having a conflict with Stylish). After the recent update, I had a wide variety of problems when Firefox 4 restarted. It did not restore my previous session, a blank tab came up instead of my homepage, I could not open my add-on manager until I opened a new tab, the bookmarks toolbar failed to load and this is just what I immediately saw. I restarted Firefox with NoScript disabled and it worked fine, so I know that NoScript itself is the problem. Removing it and reinstalling it didn't seem to work. I don't know if I'm the only one who had this problem. Please let me know if there is a way to fix this. Thank you.
