Problem with forums

Post by 5149.5 »

Hello all. Newcomer here. I just recently discovered NS and I really like what it does with one exception. I'm having a heck of a time using it with forums. The buttons on the top of the text box (image, url, etc.) do not function. I read the FAQ and have done a few searches on this forum and I haven't found anything applicable yet. I've tried a few things including a temporary allow all. I also whitelisted the TLD for the forum. So far nothing helps.

TIA
Dan

For WYSIWYG text boxes you often need to allow Javascript, normally from the same domain where the board resides.
Is there a particular board software (vBulletin, WoltlabBB, phpBB [this one here], …) that makes problems for you?

It's a vBulletin forum. I tried whitelisting the domain and I checked off Temporarily allow top level domains but so far the only thing I have found that works is disabling NS and restarting FF. I also disabled all other extensions to make sure the problem wasn't caused by another extension.

Didn't old versions of vB utilise Java (not JavaScript) for the editor? Do you have "Apply this restrictions to whitelisted sites too" checked in the "Embeddings" tab?

Alot of the vBulletin forums require that you allow ajax.google or xul.yahoo to work, I know this because I run into it all the time. If you have RequestPolicy as well like I do, then you have to allow the site to access those as well. Hope that helps.
