Flashgot prevents new window opening

Post by max221 »

It took me a while to track this down. Using FF4b12, if I try to open a link in a new window--either by right-clicking and choosing that command or shift-clicking--the new window opens with no URL and with the bookmark toolbar absent and menubar showing but blank. This only happens with the newer versions of Flashgot.

The newest version that does not do this is 1.2.8.2; I tried all the newer ones and all caused the same problem.

I am using Flashget 1.9.6.1073 as my download manager. All of this worked fine until the recent upgrades.

Any suggestions?

I'm using Flashgot 1.2.8.4 and having the same issue as max221 reports. Here is a screenshot of the resulting window. Notice Mozilla Firefox at the top that shouldn't be there. Guessing this has something to do with the new window styling controls in Firefox 4?

Both shift+click and the menu item are working fine for me on latest trunk,

It might be a Fx bug already fixed in latest build, could you please check?

I went to the latest trunk ftp site and downloaded firefox-4.0b13pre.en-US.win32.installer.exe. Installed it to a Windows 7 virtual machine and yeah it works okay. Couldn't test on my Windows 7 x64 system at the moment. Hopefully that is it. I'll probably just keep the 1.2.8.2 FlashGot until Firefox 4 final comes out and then retest everything. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem using 4.0RC2. Also tried the 1.2.8.5 version of Flashgot.

Did you check on a clean profile with just FlashGot installed?
What about latest trunk?

Have you got Roboform? And did you check on a clean profile.

Yes, I have Roboform. Are you saying I need to create a new profile or a complete reinstall of Firefox after I delete the profile directory or what?

It's a known conflict between latest Roboform, Firefox 4 and FlashGot. I suspect it's a Roboform bug.

I went back to Flashgot 1.2.8.2 and the problem goes away, so I guess I'll just stick with that one for a while. Thanks.

I tried a clean install of Firefox today with clean profile and the problem still exists. I'm still using 1.2.8.2 until a fix is found.

As far as I know, Roboform is installed globally so a clean profile contains it.
Could you check whether is there, and if the problem persists if you disable it?

It was and is a Roboform bug.

I put a work-around in latest development build, please check it out.
