Re: will not install
Confirming you attempted to download directly from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 ?
As a quick work-around pending Giorgio investigating the issue, you can download NoScript directly from https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... 9.9.18.xpi. Does that work?
In either case, make sure that the site in question, either https://addons.mozilla.org, or informaction.com has permission to install addons, either via Firefox Tools > Options > Security > "Warn me when sites try to install addons" > Exceptions: the site must be in the Exceptions list, or else you can click "Allow" in the pop-up bar at the top, for a one-time allowance of add-ons from that site.
Does this fix the issue?
If not, please note that the Microsoft .NET installed on your machine has caused numerous problems for Firefox and its extensions. Many users are removing it. That issue can be explored if the above do not resolve the issue. Let us know.

Re: will not install
I'm having virtually the same problem that this thread is addressing. Here are my answers to your questions.
By the way, that Error Console note in the previous post (mine said "file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js") identifies what I think may be the C++ program that does the installation. I believe the "Line: xxxx" identifies where the program crashed. My last crash gave this as "Line: 4082". I double clicked on the file name, the file opened right up, and I had no problem finding that particular line number.
I don't know C++, but I think I could email you the file if it would help. You'd have to give me an address to send it to of course.
Thanks a whole bunch!
Yes, I make it past this step.Tom T. wrote:Confirming you attempted to download directly from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 ?
No! It is in this step where the installation process crashes.Tom T. wrote:As a quick work-around pending Giorgio investigating the issue, you can download NoScript directly from https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... 9.9.18.xpi. Does that work?
Any permissions requested were given, and I haven't had problems with installing other software from the internet.Tom T. wrote:In either case, make sure that the site in question, either https://addons.mozilla.org, or informaction.com has permission to install addons, either via Firefox Tools > Options > Security > "Warn me when sites try to install addons" > Exceptions: the site must be in the Exceptions list, or else you can click "Allow" in the pop-up bar at the top, for a one-time allowance of add-ons from that site.

Before I try this, what risks are involved to my OS? What will this do to my computer? I'm running an up to date version of Windows XP Professional.Tom T. wrote:If not, please note that the Microsoft .NET installed on your machine has caused numerous problems for Firefox and its extensions. Looks like an Add-Ons Manager corruption.
Could you try to follow the steps outlined in this article?

Re: [RESOLVED] will not install
I had the same problem on the 5th of March when I attempted to install NoScript v2.0.9.9 from https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... .0.9.9.xpi
Here is how I resolved the problem:
1. Restore my Firefox profile from backup (before the failed NoScript v2.0.9.9 install)
2. Downloaded NoScript v2.0.9.9 from the same link on the 7th of March
3. Install NoScript as usual
There was a file size difference between NoScript v2.0.9.9 XPI files I downloaded on the 5th and 7th of March. Hope this helps other people with the same problem.
