strange behavior in google.com/privacy/ads/

Post by zaqwsxcde »

I have http://www.google.com in my trusted sites, but if I go to http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/ as soon as I click (or manage your ads preferences) the setting changes to Untrusted by itself! what gives

the setting changes to Untrusted
What setting is that?

If you open about:config, filter on 'noscript.untrusted', what shows in there (google related, that is)?

as you see google is allowed (permanently)

I clicked the link, page quickly reloaded and nothing happened, and google became untrusted all on its own

Thanks. That's weird, indeed.

Can you see any error message in Tools|Error Console?

Could you please send me your NoScript Options|Export output?

Before I send you my settings export, I found these that might be more helpful

When I click ( http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/?hl=en ) link, this message comes up in Error Console:
[ABE] <LOCAL> Deny on {GET http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/ads/preferences/getcookie?sig=ACi0TCgJuH0rz1H2lqB169Wz5jBw9zOsejZazPqJ4zn1c93iKfgE_nN_6tGbbS5Ezqd_GtdKg-eg&hl=en <<< http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/checkgoog?hl=en, http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/?hl=en, http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/, http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/ - 6}
SYSTEM rule:
Site LOCAL
Accept from LOCAL
Deny

More weirdness:

1) When Google.com became untrusted as a result of clicking that link, at the same time I navigated to Google.com search homepage and it was shown as trusted.

2) In this particular website (Google.com/privacy/ads/) http://www. is also shown in NoScript's pop-up. But for any other website that part of the URL is not shown.

*** P.S. I allowed "google-analytics.com" and the same thing happens.

This very likely means that googleads.g.doubleclick.net is listed in your hosts file and points to a local IP address different than localhost or (as recommended) an invalid destination.

Regarding the rest of your report, how is exactly http://www.google.com whitelisted? By its full address, by its full domain or by its base domain (that's one of the reason why I asked for your configuration export)?

and you would be right! I totally forgot about HOSTS file.

but anyway, is that normal the way NoScript changes the setting from trusted to untrusted?

I have "google.com" in trusted, and couldn't have it any other way because I never see the full URL in NoScript pop-up. (except this case)

Try to forbid it and allow it back using the menu.
