Hulu's Adzone 2011 doesn't work with NoScript installed
I was trying to watch the Superbowl ads on Hulu's AdZone 2011 page. None of them would play. I figured it was either NoScript or Adblock so I disabled Adblock and set NoScript to temporarily allow all scripts on the page. That didn't work. So I set NoScript to allow all scripts globally. That still didn't work. I finally disabled both the Adblock and NoScript add-ons. The page then worked. I then re-enabled the Adblock add-on. The page still worked. I then enabled NoScript and the page didn't work again.
Finally I created a new profile and installed NoScript and set it to allow scripts globally and also disabled ABE and XSS. The Hulu AdZone page still wouldn't work. The page only works with the NoScript actually disabled in Firefox. This is with both Firefox 3.6.13 and the latest nightly load of Firefox 4. Other videos at Hulu work, it's just the AdZone page that does not.
For example, the following page doesn't work:
http://www.hulu.com/adzone2011#50120609

Re: Hulu's Adzone 2011 doesn't work with NoScript installed
I also tried to watch the Hulu Adzone 2011 and was also unable to view them, I am not going to loosen control of my browser to watch the adds. If they cannot make the adds viewable without all the additional cookies and marketing then I would rather not watch them and wait for them to be on you tube. I can watch all other Hulu videos when i allow only Hulu and huluim.

It works just fine for me (of course using a USA proxy) as soon as I allow hulu.com, huluim.com and every object coming from hulu.com.
All ths with both ABE and anti-XSS enabled.

The majority of Hulu.com works, it's just that one page that sits there and does nothing unless I disable or uninstall NoScript.

Re: Hulu's Adzone 2011 doesn't work with NoScript installed
Initially it was not working for me.
Allowed a bunch of stuff, allowed more.
Frustrated Allowed Globally.
Un-allowed, then revoked & started again.
(Noted that at that point, it did a more thorough refresh.)
Then I whittled it down to hulu.com, huluim.com, & also googleadservices.com, google-analytics.com, & finally Flash @ hulu.com.
Thinking that only one or the other "google's" were needed.
Revoked.
Further whittled it down to hulu.com, huluim.com, & also googleadservices.com, & finally Flash @ hulu.com.
At that point, was going to s/googleadservices.com/google-analytics.com/, but when I then Revoked, all it took was hulu.com & huluim.com & Flash?
(Somewhat sounds like, Slickdeals Oddity. [Note that I am on a different computer now.])

Did it work for you when you allowed globally? When I tried, it wouldn't work even with allowing scripts globally.

I don't recall. (Didn't recall when I posted above either). But in any case, I'm sure it will now, but then at this point, I don't even need to do that.

Re: Hulu's Adzone 2011 doesn't work with NoScript installed
I still couldn't get the videos on that page to play in Firefox 3.6.13 or 4.0b11 for Windows, when NoScript 2.0.9.7 was installed no matter how much I white-listed stuff.
I finally got it to play by allowing scripts globally and then going to the embedding option and unselecting the "Block every object coming from a site marked as untrusted". I also already had the clearclick disabled for trusted sites. After that the videos loaded and played. Without unselecting that option nothing happened, even if I gave global permission or permission to everything on the page.
So basically to get the videos to play I have to both of the following:
1. Enabled global scripts - whitelisting scripts on page doesn't work.
2. Uncheck the "Block every object coming from a site marked as untrusted" option on the embedding options page.

This probably means that you didn't allow "everything" on that page, but that you (accidentally?) marked as untrusted some vital script source there.Morac wrote:2. Uncheck the "Block every object coming from a site marked as untrusted" option on the embedding options page.
Try to untoggle "allow scripts globally" and check whether there's any source left in the "Untrusted" submenu to allow.

I tried allowing everything on the page manually. I went through the whole list. I also tried temporarily allowing everything on the page. Neither worked. There was no untrusted menu in the noscript menu. I can only assume there's some item being blocked that's not showing up in the list.Giorgio Maone wrote:This probably means that you didn't allow "everything" on that page, but that you (accidentally?) marked as untrusted some vital script source there.Morac wrote:2. Have you got Adblock Plus, too?Morac wrote:I tried allowing everything on the page manually. I went through the whole list. I also tried temporarily allowing everything on the page. Neither worked. If you don't, could you install and check whether your problem happens with it alone as well?
What Flash Player version have you got?

While I do have Adblock Plus installed, I created a brand new profile with just NoScript installed and saw the same problem.Giorgio Maone wrote:

Flash is 10.1 (latest version).

(BTW, Flash just [security] updated to Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.26. Flash & security in the same sentence, suppose that's an oxymoron.)

Re: Hulu's Adzone 2011 doesn't work with NoScript installed
Just tried it again.
Allowed the two hu*.com's, then clicked the placeholder.
Nothing apparent happened.
Controls showed (I think) but no video.
Then Allowed the Flash object.
Same.
Manually refreshed the page, & finally the video started.
(Different from my other computer yesterday evening, where I just Allowed hu*.com's & Allowed Flash object & worked right away.)
