Several No Script Issues

Post by mpz »

There's several issues I've run into with No Script, one of which forced me to roll back to an earlier version.

In your latest 2.0.9.4 it appears to be interfering with refreshing pages in FF 3.6.13. They reload ok the first few times but after minimizing and maximizing FF then attempting reload nothing happens. Restored version 2.0.7 to resolve it.

The second problem involves No Script blocking the download of HTML5 videos on youtube. Is there a setting that needs to be made? After starting the video then right clicking to "Save Video as" the there's no downloading, the download box just hangs. Disabling No Script resolves the issue. This is happening in both 2.0.9.4 and 2.0.7.

Here's a test site to confirm or not:

Can you actually reproduce on a clean profile with just NoScript installed?
Unfortunately I can't check right now because Vevo is blocking it in Italy.
I'll try as soon as I can configure a proxy (tomorrow), but again, is it reproducible on a clean profile with just NoScript?

Did fresh install profiles for both 3.6.13 and the latest Minefield nightly then tested your latest 2.0.9.5.

With 3.6.13 there is still a reloading problem after several clicks and minimizing the browser. It does not appear to be happening in Minefield. The return to 2.0.7 resolves it.

The second issue of blocked downloading HTML5 videos with No Script enabled in Minefield couldn't be determined at this time because with a fresh profile the full right click menu isn't available and as yet I don't know what setting in FF will bring it up. As soon as that's figured out I'll get back to you.

Edit: to get the full right click gray box menu I believe the Menu Editor addon needs to be installed otherwise all you'll see is a small yellow box and that's not what is used to save the videos to the hard drive.

I would like to say that first I like Noscipt I have it set up so that all ad's and pop-ups aren't really an issue anymore... However I find that there is one is one big flaw that I've found so far. You can't use web based Yahoo messenger without a crud load of problems due to the fact that you can't set http://us.msg.yahoo.com to permanent allow status nor can you set it where a site (like the one mentioned before) can run all scripts (so long as it doesn't violate the blacklist you already have set up)

"yahoo.com" is in the default whitelist, and it implies its subdomains including us.msg.yahoo.com, so I'm not sure the whitelist is the issue.

Regarding the rest, might this be FAQ 8.10?
