[REQ] password protected

Post by mallory »

i did not wish to make an account simply to post a single topic, move this topic as needed.

it would be nice if there was a way to set noscript to force password authentication everytime someone tries to alter the ruleset in any way or access the options menu. i know this could be bypassed by manual editing of files and maybe further digging but it would prevent accidental allowing, by users not familiar with noscript or not considerate of your policies, to allow the scripts to run on sites that you do not wish them to run on. it could be as simple as a popup box that requests a password to be entered anytime you wish to open the options menu and any time you attempt to allow or forbid any element or site. a more complex version (which may be easier to code) would be to password protect the options menu and also be able to set noscript to where there is no context menu at all and instead all rule edits must be done manually through the options menu or modifying files on disk.

There is no reliable protection of this kind.

Also, we had this suggestion before:
