Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
Firefox 3.6.12
NoScript 2.0.5.1 (also tried 2.0.6rc5)
Flash war game: http://www.caesary.net
Normally if you click a button "Battle replay" it opens battle replay in a new tab. Example of replay url: http://k1.caesary.net/replay/wareplay.h ... 427f17.xml
However, if NoScript is enabled Firefox draws a new tab and crashes before loading the replay url. Crash happens every single time - would be easy to reproduce, except that you need to create Caesary account, then get a hero, some troops, load troops onto the hero and actually attack something before you get a battle report which has "Battle replay" button.
I willing to provide more data if needed, just tell me exactly how to get it.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Jonas.

In case it is not reproducable for others, it might be helpful if you posted the crash report ID/link which you can find in "about:crashes".

Re: Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
I did lot's of testing and found out that last version which does not cause the crash is 2.0.2rc4. Starting with 2.0.2rc5 all later versions do crash.
I've decided to use last working stable version i.e. 2.0.1 as temporary work around for now.
I never submit crash reports to Firefox, and would prefer not to, unless it's absolutely necessary.

Re: Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
I have this problem too. Very annoying that it crashes all tabs, and it's odd that it's the only problem I have whatsoever with NoScript. Crashes FF every time to the "submit bug" screen. Be glad to provide any info that could be helpful.
I never submit the crashes to FF either, but if that would be helpful, be glad to do it.
Thanks!

Re: Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
I have been crashing regularly (lately) on the Trunk.
So much so that I've reverted back to the Branch.
Have no idea what it may be related to. If anyone has a clue ...
(Between the 25th & the 29th <or so> I was on the Branch.)

Re: Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
Well, perhaps ought to disregard my above post?
Though perhaps not, cause perhaps other extensions (& if so, then Adblock Plus most likely) could be causing the same situation?
Reverted back to NoScript noscript-2.0.1rc5.xpi, loaded most recent Trunk, then promptly proceed to crash shortly after opening. So the issue I am seeing is not rectified (again at least not solely) by reverting to an earlier NoScript.

Also note that while the crash report Extensions tab shows "No extensions were installed", that is incorrect.

Heh.
Some comment on NoScript forums that (for a certain site) earlier version of NoScript did not cause crash, where more recent versions did. Thought perhaps it could be the cause of my crashes. Alas it is not so easy. Trunk is totally unstable for me at this point. Back to the Branch.

Was running Branch.
Quit.
Installed old version of NoScript.
Same Profile.
Loaded Trunk.
Updated to most recent.
Opened Trunk.
Session Restore resorted my session. Crashed soon after.

Here's the report. Just installed v2.0.8.1 and it still crashes when Caesary attempts to open the new tab.Giorgio Maone wrote:Please submit your crash reports to Mozilla (it's anonymous) and give me the links you get back, thanks.

Re: Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
Does disabling ABE from NoScript Options|Advanced|ABE help?
Does setting noscript.surrogate.enabled to false?
(Please check separately)

Jackpot! ABE had no effect, but noscript.surrogate.enabled set to false fixes the issue!Giorgio Maone wrote:Does disabling ABE from NoScript Options|Advanced|ABE help?

Although of course I like having all the protection I can so I tend not to like to disable things. I'll probably just re-enable it and continue skipping that portion of the game, but if there's any other info I can provide to help debug, just let me know.
And FWIW, your work on NoScript is much appreciated!

Re: Firefox crashes when flash game tries to open a web page
You could try to turn noscript.surrogate.enabled back to true and then erasing all the noscript.surrogate.xyz.sources entries which start either with "!" or with "@" (i.e. page-level surrogates).malizzle wrote:if there's any other info I can provide to help debug, just let me know.
Check whether the crash still happens.
If it doesn't, reset those sources entries one by one, until the crash happens, and tell me which one appears to trigger it.
