[RESOLVED, INVALID] YouTube Changes?

I believe Google has made some changes to YouTube, and NoScript (V2.0.4) may be conflicting with them. I cannot expand the description of the video, and the side suggestion images do not show up (links do). The only thing I can do is play the current video by clicking on it to allow.

I also currently have the AdBlock Plus V1.3.1, and Easy YouTube Video Downloader V3.6 extensions installed. However, even when these are disabled, YouTube functionality goes to pretty much nil. Google is always tweaking and messing about with YouTube, but I have never had a conflict before this. Even "allowing all" does not restore some of the functionality.

Anyone else having difficulties?

I have quite a few cookies from Google on my block list as well, but have not had a problem to date. One of them could also be causing trouble with the new YouTube Changes.

A check with a fresh profile works fine.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks....

Does a fresh profile with NoScript work?
If it does, could you try Standard Diagnostic with NoScript enabled to check whether there's an extensions conflict?
If that doesn't help, could you check whether NoScript Options|Reset + reallowing youtube.com and ytimg.com does?

Yeah, I'm having all the same problems with YouTube. Nothing Javascript-related is working there. I can still watch videos and search and stuff, but anything active-javascript related simply won't work, like everything you described. Disallowing and reallowing youtube.com and yimg.com didn't work. I haven't done a fresh profile (and don't really want to) and have not done any standard diagnostic yet... not sure if it would matter. This only started happening recently, perhaps Adblock Plus' update is conflicting? I know they updated recently, but I don't see any reason why it would conflict. Anyone else try anything? I hope if either extension is the problem, that someone will fix it soon...

Very likely it does, since Youtube features (except Insight, which is due to a Google bug discussed elsewhere) are working just fine for me.

Ok, after some experimentation, I narrowed it down to one simple thing:

I have had youtube.com on my cookie block list FOREVER with no problems. Suddenly, as of 2 days ago, blocking cookies from youtube.com grinds it to a halt. Setting it as a session only cookie restored full functionality.

Oh, just wanted to add that I eliminated blocking of cookies for youtube.com on my *original* profile with all other extensions enabled (AB+ 1.3.1, Better Privacy (current), Easy YT Video Downloader 3.6, NS 2.0.4). Everything is a go for me.

I don't want to try any profile switching because I'm paranoid I won't be able to access my original profile. Stupid crap like this has happened to people I know before.

What do you mean by "repro"? I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't done a diagnostic yet, but I checked my cookies, I'm not blocking anything from YouTube or Google. I even cleared my cookies again just to see if that would fix it. It didn't. If the problem for YOU was cookies, then obviously something else is my problem. This is infuriating. Are you sure you weren't getting any extensions that were conflicting?

Then we can't tell it's an extensions conflict yet. Standard Diagnostic is the easiest way to tell.

"Acted up" like in "broken"?
If so, you may want to check whether Javascript is blocked by Firefox itself in Tools|Options|Content.
Also, do other browsers work correctly?

Yeah, "acted up" as in Javascript was still not working on it, just like in non-safe mode.

I just checked that, and yeah, Firefox is allowing Javascript. I didn't even need to check though, because Javascript is working everywhere I go EXCEPT YouTube.

I normally never open IE at all, but I just tried it, and as I suspected, YouTube works fine. So it's some kind of Firefox problem, or extension problem, I have absolutely no clue. And I don't know why it's ONLY affecting YouTube.

Youtube now has a dom storage problem, do you have it disabled (dom.storage.enabled)?

Yes, or you can use a surrogate that I posted in the thread linked in the previous post.
