/edit: Links do not work, one needs to copy it into the URL bar. Probably referer [sic] sniffing?

And the point is? I don't get what you are trying to do? Its a simple tool to help people have a general idea for their needs, its not intended to cover every single nitty gritty details of every version or sub-version. Just saying, I am not sure what you are trying to prove but just because you can screw with the script doesn't mean anything. JMTC

Well, at least when updating to the latest RC, it shouldn't tell me that I don't have the latest version.

Well the RC notation is something that he has been using relatively more recently and so the code is probably not designed to distinguish too deeply on the revision end of the software. There are eve many major software vendors who let's say have 2.0.1.200 as the most recent and you go there with 2.0.1.11 and it will say that your software is up to date because it checks the major version branch only.

It is because often times the granularity of the revisions are overlooked or skipped. This version checking system is not supposed to take the place of the checking that occurs by default (say through the Fx update mechanism) or by the user (visual check), its just a general guide for more novice users and that's fine. I am sure if he has more time and less important/critical items on his hands, he will deal with it. In the meantime, its a fairly moot issue and not really critical. Especially that you are feeding it values that are not normally valid and it seems that it doesn't error check to tell you that because it doesn't expect that someone is going to manually screw with its input.

Now don't get me wrong I am not trying to smack you down or nothing, I am simply giving my two cents on the subject and respect your position, just trying to shed another perspective on the subject. The only one who can truly provide the absolute reason and explanation would be Giorgio and he seems to be quite busy trying to roll out fixes, changes and new features, so I am sure when he gets around to it, he will let us know.

When this was first posted, it took me a while to figure that out too.

Thank you as always, I am sure the OP is happy now.

Ditto, I was trying to figure out with all the more important things that Giorgio has to worry about why this was such a biggie, but to each their own.

Hm… something seems wrong.

BTW, IMHO it's a good idea that users of pre-release Firefox versions are now recommended to use the dev builds.
