[RESOLVED] Antivirus

Post by mg »

I run Windows XP with Microsoft Security Essentials, and prefer to browse with Firefox. I recently added NoScripts. Today, Microsoft Security Center tells me its Virus Protection is OFF. I cannot get Virus Protection to turn on. Firewall and Automatic Updates remain ON.

Did NoScripts turn Virus Protection off? Microsoft Security Center suggests I turn Virus Protection on, but I can't.

Am I safe from viruses? Does NoScripts protect me from the virus, trojan, etc., threats? If not, what should I do?

Thanks.

NoScript is merely an extension for Firefox written in XUUUUL and Javascript, there is no way it can fondle with your anti-virus, since Fx would first have to offer an interface for doing so.
On top of that and in all seriousness, what sense would it make?!

No. http://noscript.net/features

I don't use Microsoft Security Essentials, so I think you may need to ask Microsoft Security Essentials support for help.

Thanks. I'm not a developer or programmer. Just connected, possibly incorrectly, the addition of NoScripts and Windows Security Center's Virus Protection turning off. Still wondering what my next step is.

You're welcome. Sorry I can't help more, but I'd be checking with the MSE folks if I were in your shoes.

Rebooting seems to have fixed the problem. Wish I had thought of that sooner! Thanks for your help. :)

You're welcome. Rebooting is often the last thing I think of too.
