Batch images

Post by Guest »

Hello.

I have tried to get this to work in both DownThemAll and Flashgot, but eventually gave up. Maybe it's been covered already, but couldn't find anything useful by searching.

I want to download a batch of images. The problem is that I don't know the name of the images, so I want to download the entire directory.

I'll use an example, and if need be I'll post the real URL later.
http://www.example.com/images/

The directory is not browseable, but I do know the name of one of the files there. Let's say example.jpg
If I go to http://www.example.com/images/example.jpg, I can see that image and I can even download it, but I want all the other .jpg images there as well.

I've tried all sorts of things with dTa, but can't get any wildcards to work. Have looked everywhere for an explanation on how to use wildcards with it, without any luck.

Thank you

If the directory is not browseable, the browser (and thus FlashGot/DTA) have no way to "guess" file names and replace wildcards.

Hmm, ok.
I'll give the details then.

On this site: http://dragonquest.nintendo.com/ you can see that there's an image of a map in the background. If I check Page Info -> Media with Firefox I find an image called mapTest.jpg, located on http://dragonquest.nintendo.com/wii/images/mapTest.jpg

The problem is that it is only part of the full map (you can view the full map by clicking the various links on that site, the window will move around).

Any suggestions?

Thanks again :)

Unfortunately you can't download the whole map or its pieces, because they're implemented as Flash movie assets dynamically loaded inside the big Flash applet which makes the site.
In other words, beside the "test" image you could already see, there are no intelligible images around to be seen and saved by the browser.

Ok, I see.

Thanks Giorgio.
I want to create a custom map for the community of this game. Guess I'll have to send a mail and beg for the image :P
