Information on wireless_broadband_router request

Post by mustbjones »

I use Little Snitch to monitor outgoing requests. I recently noticed that Firefox was making two requests that I haven't seen before. One is to secure.information.com (which searching these forums tells me that it is part of NoScript's security) but I can't find anything out about wireless_broadband_router (except what Little Snitch tell me that it is my router's IP address). I would sincerely like more information please.

Same reason.

Also, is there a reason for your ridiculous user agent?

I see no mention of connecting to "wireless_broadband_router" in the article. I only saw the secure.information.com.

What is my "ridiculous user agent"?

NoScript tries to determine whether your router offers its web config interface through your Internet address.

And your user agent is displayed below your posts.

Is this a better user agent? I use NetBarrier to block all information about my computer.

Maybe the previous user agent gave away less information about you but it also made your fingerprint more unique.

BTW, the user agent string of upcoming Fx4 is going to be 'slimmer'.

That is kind of scary. So far, this is the only forum website that I have run into that required a "clear" user agent. If you look at my other post, you will see that after trying to reply to a previous post in this thread I was "hi-jhacked" to someplace called evil.hackademix - just because I was blocking my user agent.

Yep, two sides to every coin.

By the time they get done screwing things up, it will end up being "". (Now how's that for slim ;-). Haven't really paid attention to all the related bugs, so really shouldn't be saying, but to me its just a whole bunch of crap for not. Certainly likely to hamper support where "UA" <date, language, OS, ...> is important.)
