where is Noscript 1.10 ?

Post by Old Timer »

OK, I'm running Firefox 1.0 (no flames please! I'm never going to "upgrade") - from what I read on this most excellent site, I need install Noscript 1.10 (iirc) BUT.... where is the download link, please ?

Also, in the FAQ, it is suggested to update FF (1.02 here) to 1.05. Again a link would be welcome along the recommendation. Thank you very much and NO, again, NO! Please nobody tell me to get FF 2 or (even worse) later!

http://noscript.net/getit#direct has a link to NoScript 1.10

You need at least Firefox 1.5.0.12, here's an (unverified) link: http://www.oldapps.com/firefox.php?old_firefox=27

Whatever you want is available directly from Mozilla.
You can go back to 0.8 if you wanted ;-).
Or up to 4.0b3 & beyond.

Thank you.

Why wouldn't this mate with Firefox 1 ? I mean, is it just the packaging format of extensions, that changed at some point IIRC, or is the code in the extension itself incompatible ? I will not even update tmy FF to 1.5, so unless that NS - or an earlier version buried in your caves - can be persuaded to install in 1.0 (which I'm sure you mentionned elsewhere on the site) I shall regretfully go on without noscript and use Firefox native menu to disable Javascript :(

Actually Phoenix/Firebird 0.7/0.8 were the best ever versions Mozilla produced. Afterwards the bloat started
crreping in, and soon it was overflowing, while Firefox got fatter and fatter it also got slower and slower, buggier and buggier, like Mozilla had turned into a Microsoft clone - which it has, in more than one way... JMO ;=)

As far as I can tell, the newest version of NoScript compatible with Fx 1.0 is NoScript 1.1.4.7
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ns/1.1.4.7

The most stable version of Fx 1.0 is Fx 1.0.8, available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/1.0.8/

If bloat is an issue for you, why not using K-Meleon?

Got no idea what KMeleon is/ can/can't do for me ° . Besides I'm used to Firebird\\\fox, why would I change interfaces ? Would Noscript, other FF extensions install in KMeleon ? Besides, bloat was still contained as of Firefox 1.
Besides, I'm already running an invertebrate, green, OS (SuSE Linux).

Finally, like many aging folks, I don't like changing my ways on a whim. Thanks but no, thanks !

° At <http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/Features> it says : K-Meleon is a simple, fast, efficient Windows web browser... no Linux, then ? Even tho I'm running Windoze also, system-agnosticism is another Firefox 'plus' to me.
