NS && Speedtest.net == 1/2 to 1/3 DL speed

Post by unreg.poster »

Hey, I don't know what could be causing this, but my pings & speeds on speedtest.net are quite a bit different when using NS (I'm using FF 3.6.8, but same has been happening since about FF 3.5 & NS 1.8 or 1.9).

Sample result:
w/ NS --> 11.06 Mb/s | ping 88ms
w/o NS --> 27.92 Mb/s | ping 15ms

upload speed is also reduced but not as drastically.

NoScript just can't affect raw network speed.
Maybe the Flash applet they use for measurement tries to reach out to page JavaScript or to perform cross-site requests, getting blocked by NoScript and loosing time this way.
However my test gave consistent numbers across Fx 3.6.8 w/o NoScript, Fx 3.6.8 w NoScript, Minefield with and without NoScript and Chrome (obviously without NoScript).

wow. what fast feedback! great product & great work!
...
I actually posted a problem that is not all related to NS!!!! I'm sorry. The problem is caused by Firebug.

Let's hope someone over there is as super fast & supportive as you.

Also, I recommend your product to friends. The only complaint I've gotten is it's difficult for them to use, and they often just go to [Allow all on this page], which I wish I hadn't seen them doing.

I don't know if a larger community white list is possible. Something like the MVPS block list maybe? Perhaps [allow all but community black list]?

Anyway, many thanks, cheers, prego, & merci beaucoup
