- Open a long page (more than a few Page Down keys to view... let's say news.google.com) but don't shift the viewport with Page Down
Click to view a page that's also long (say something from http://www.cbc.ca or http://www.nytimes.com)
Press the Page Down button to shift the viewport down one chunk
Press the Back button
Observe that the original page that wasn't scrolled is now scrolled the same amount as the window you navigated away from
[RESOLVED] Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
[RESOLVED] Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
Is anyone else seeing this weirdness with Minefield? I'm not completely sure this is a NoScript problem or not yet...

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
If you disable NoScript, does the problem persist?

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
In a limited amount of testing I've done it does seem to go away if NoScript is disabled.
I should also state that even when NoScript is enabled the effect doesn't always kick in immediately. It may also be tied to restarts when a new drop of Minefield comes down and returning to pages that were viewed in the previous version.

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
Could it possibly be that some components on minefield are still being developed, modified and changed fluidly and as NoScript implements code to remain compatible with them and to resolve issues, you might temporarily be seeing these glitches and that in the final build it should be resolved. That would be a logical assumption on my part but ultimately Giorgio can address that with more specifics.

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
I can confirm this problem. Any time I navigate to a new page the amount scrolled will remain.

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
Does it happens with latest development build as well?

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
yes. I just tried to uninstall and reinstall extension (latest development version) and the bug is still here.Giorgio Maone wrote:Does it happens with latest development build as well?

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
I first started seeing it today. The last thing I did yesterday before turning off the computer was to update to the latest dev build, so I never got around to browse with it until today.

Can't seem to duplicate it here in today's SeaMonkey.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b4pre) Gecko/20100813 SeaMonkey/2.1a3pre
URL 1: http://fileforum.betanews.com/browse/new?days=7
URL 2: http://win.softpedia.com/
Open URL1 & URL2, separate tabs.
Quit, saving the session.
Restart.
Same two tabs should reopen.
While in URL1 tab, type URL2 into Location bar.
Page_down 3 times.
Alt-back_arrow.
URL1 remains at top of page where it was left off.
(Not everything in FF falls onto SeaMonkey, but ...)

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
I, too, have noticed this problem with the NYTimes pages. The link chosen creates from two to six entries in the history and will not allow the "go back one page" button to work.
I am using the following: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8 and NoScript 2.0.1
When reverting back to NoScript 2.0 this problem does not exist.

Re: Viewport weirdness on Back Button?
If I'm reading the OP correctly, your issue is different.
Your issue is here, 2.02rc1 busts Back Button on arstechnica.com?.
Anyhow, update to the latest development build & see if your issue isn't resolved.
