Currently using Firefox 3.6.8, and NoScript says it is incompatible...

This is wrong. NoScript is compatible up to latest 4.0 previews.
Please try to uninstall and reinstall.
If it doesn't work, please check http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_Iss ... sion_files
