Issues since upgrade to 1.10

Post by tgif »

Hi

Happily been using noscript for the past two or three years.

This morning, update to v1.10 broke stuff all over internal intranet pages that I view every day at work.

Primarily, font sizes on pages just suddenly appeared larger and consequently page layouts went out the window.

I know this is NoScript blocking a JS or a CSS, or something - but when I right click on the icon it doesn't tell me that it's blocking anything extra.

Disabling NoScript fixes it.

Adding the site to the whitelist doesn't appear to help either in fact it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

The changelog for v1.10 doesn't seem to indicate anything relating to this, but then again, it's all web developer speak that I'm not familiar with.

Thankfully, NS has been non-intrusive for me for ages but this last update has done something and I've got sick of mucking around with it this morning when I should be working. I was just about to uninstall it completely but thought I would ask to see if anyone had any tips on debugging what it is blocking (but not telling me about)

Firefox 3.0.19 on Windows XP SP3

Thanks for any tips.

Only guessing & in no particular order, but ...

Anything NoScript related in Error Console?
Export your settings (should you need a backup), then Reset
Try a clean Profile with only NoScript
Revert back to an earlier version & confirm that that works, http://noscript.net/feed
In your UA, what is "ffco7"
Disable that .NET plugin/extension
Options | Advanced -> XSS, uncheck
Options | Advanced -> ABE, uncheck

Thanks for the quick response and suggestions

Down rev's (seeing as I was confident that it was a NS update that stuffed things) were what I was looking for and couldn't find them - so thanks for supplying that link.

So I can now confirm that if I downgrade to 1.9.9.97 it's all good again

Tried going back to 1.10 and turning off the ClearClick and Opaque functions but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Of your other suggestions - what is my "UA" ? User Agent?

Seems there is a new major version coming up so perhaps not worth wasting time on until that's available?

Ahh, now I see the ffco7 in my UA

Gotcha

No idea, it's not hex because there's an oohh I can only guess that it stands for Firefox something-something seven.

Googling it seems to bring up lots of other FF browser UA's with it so it's not unusual?

Anyway, did about:config, "Reset" useragent.override and now it's disappeared.

I'll give it another go now

Okay, that appears to have been the MS .NET Framework FF plugin screwing up the UA

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... sion-1.2.1

It looks completely different now, in fact I didn't even notice that most of the version numbers didn't match up with what I really had!

An interesting little side trip, but NS 1.10 still breaks my font size/table row length/CSS or formatting of some sort so yep, back to 1.9.9.97 again

Does it happen also with Firefox 3.5 or above?
Why are you still using 3.0, which is a discontinued (since March) and thus certainly vulnerable product?
Could you provide a sample page (you said it's an internal site, but you could "Save Page as..." web page, complete, zip the result and send me an email)?
