just reporting add to link which causes noscript probs

Post by Guest »

Hi,

I was looking up some people on google who have facebook. I just wanted to view whatever they had showing to the public as I am not a member of facebook.

I put this in google: facebook linda goepper

and when i hover on the result, this is the link google gives:

http://www.facebook.com/people/Linda-Go ... noscript=1

If I use that link to view her page, that page keeps reloading or trying to crash constantly, so I hit stop (X) if I can, and then I can see the public page. If I can't stop it, I just close the page.

I assume it's that added bit ?_fb_ noscript=1 causing the problem.

I first noticed this about a week and a half ago and at that time found some others who also have similar links with the noscript = 1 added to the normal address, but I didn't get here to post about it at that time, and so do not recall who else I searched for then, but there were others with the same thing as well in google results.

I have no problem viewing her facebook page by going directly to facebook search.

I just wanted to report this in case this hasn't been seen before.

Thanks!

That code is added by Facebook if the user agent (e.g. the browser) which opens its pages is not JavaScript-enabled.
Google Bot is not JavaScript-enabled, hence Google's results have that code.
Nothing to do with NoScript, except that NoScript users, if they've got Facebook disabled, get that code as well.

Thank you very much! I am glad to know that it's not something trying to defeat noscript!

Take care and thank you so much for noscript!
