Firefox 3.6.3 freezing / hanging
Firefox 3.6.3 freezing / hanging
I've been having freezing issues with Firefox since 3.6.3. It was suggested to me to disable addons to help in figuring out if a specific addon could be causing the issue, and it looks like the problem is only happening with Noscript enabled. This issue seems pretty serious, as it often freezes the OS when it happens (which is often). Googling a bit shows that this is a common problem at the moment, and it isn't limited to any particular OS. The things in common are Firefox 3.6.3 and Noscript. Maybe something else is at play here, but I'm lost in knowing what it might be. If there's anything that I can do to help in narrowing the problem down, let me know. I consider Noscript to be an essential addon for Firefox, and I'd like to re-enable it as soon as possible.

Having a similar problem. Firefox hangs every 30-40 seconds or so for 1-2 seconds. It's especially noticeable when watching any kind of streaming video. After disabling noscript, the problem went away.

The first result I get googling is this, http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_fo ... &forumId=1 reported byt an user who doesn't have NoScript.
Also, I cannot reproduce this problem, but the possibility that it gets triggered by a combination of NoScript and another extension can't be ruled out yet.
Could you check if it persists on a clean profile with just NoScript and nothing else?
If it doesn't, could you use Standard Diagnostic (keeping NoScript enabled) on your regular profile, in order to find the conflicting extension?

Hey Giorgio, I searched a bit more to find out if users of other OS were having the same problem. I'm trying a new profile with only Noscript now, and I'll report back with how things turn out.

After running a clean profile with only Noscript for a couple of days, I'm not getting any freezing. Firing up the old profile, and turning on Noscript is freeze city. Would the likely culprit be a clash with another addon? I've been using the same few addons for quite a long time now, Adblock, Dictionary, CHMreader, Chatzilla. Java and .Netassistant are listed in the addons also, which is the same for the new profile. I guess I'll import my bookmarks to the new profile, and go from there.
