wankdb>>empflix = No flash icon
wankdb>>empflix = No flash icon
If you happen to select a video from wankdb.com which in turn is hosted at empflix.com ,the NS alert and clearance is working but even as the video runs at full speed ,the Flashgot icon is nowhere to be seen. But the Download helper flashing is working at this site.
This particular problem arises only to videos at empflix.Others say for xvideos etc FG works well.

Re: wankdb>>empflix = No flash icon
All the redirecting videos I could find at wankdb.com were from xvideos.com and they worked fine with FlashGot.
Could you point me to a specific URL of an empflix.com-redirected video?

Sample URL in asgard.
(Happened to be the first link I chose.)
Perhaps because the file is of a type ".fid"?

Re: wankdb>>empflix = No flash icon
Do extensions really matter? In any case movie starts only after NS placeholder is cleared. How does Download Helper recognises and flashes its' icon? I presume there is an issue at empflix which I have reported in NS Support. Would not know if they are interconnected..therube wrote:Sample URL in asgard.

Re: wankdb>>empflix = No flash icon
I suppose that FlashGot Media is only sniffing for "video" extensions.
".fid" not being a video extension, it is being overlooked.
Or the content/type is something unexpected?
Also note that wankdb is not an issue here.
Loading a video directly at empflix is also not seen.

Fid is a media extension these days as I can play it and I think I have downloaded fid thru flashgot before for sure...therube wrote:I suppose that FlashGot Media is only sniffing for "video" extensions.

Not really recognized: File Extension .FID
Being able to play a file, regardless of it's extension, is more a factor of the player then anything else. Some players ignore the the extension & "sniff" the file header to determine its type & if it is something that it can play it does so.
Double click on a ".fid" & Windows won't know what to do with it. If you tell WMP to open it (& if WMP can play .FLV) then it will play. If you drag an .fid into WMP (I'm not always so certain about that?) & if WMP can play the file format (.FLV in this case) then it again should play.
If you rename the file from .fid to .flv (as it actually is), then any player which can play .FLV should play it without issue (codec issues aside).

Re: wankdb>>empflix = No flash icon
Just to clarify, FlashGot Media first checks the Content-type header for video/audio related mime types, and if the mime type is generic or misleading (like in this case, "application/octet-stream") it checks for known file extensions (which, however, are the least reliable and often missing criterion).
Empflix serves videos (at least the first chunk) with the generic "application/octet-stream" mime type (which applies to any no better specified binary file), and uses the unofficial (and unknown to me/FlashGot until today) ".fid" file extension.
The obvious work-around is recognizing ".fid" as a synonym of ".flv", as it appears to actually be.
Done in latest development build
