Integrating IDM with Flashgot with limited user account

Post by asif105878 »

I use a limited user account in windows xp. I've installed Firefox & IDM using this account. But FlashGot cannot detect IDM. IDM extension for firefox also has this problem. Is there any way to solve this problem?

Usually limited accounts cannot be used to install applications or they result in bad registration of system related files because you can't access the library registration or registry modifications. So this will and most likely is resulting in the inability to see it since you installed it in limited account. Sort of like installing something using regular permission in Vista instead of Admin to comply with UAC. Similar situation via a different mode. Proper install by the admin using a full permission account is likely necessary to fix this.

If I could have access to administrator account I wouldn't have started this topic in the first place.

No need to get defensive, just stating a fact and no amount of threads will fix this issues. Permissions and user levels were designed for this very reason so things can't be done. I will let others handle this now as you don't want to hear facts and I don't have anything you WANT to hear, but I don't think anyone here is going to be able to help you hack your way around admin permissions which were designed to keep limited account from accomplishing things like this. If you can ask the admin to install it right, then do it, if not and they won't do it for you, then you pretty much shouldn't or find another solution that allows you install without admin permissions.

There you go, its a permission issue. IE is promiscuous and if you can't get IT to work, then you have your answer.
