No gmail standard view
No gmail standard view
Lately, I can only access the html view of gmail, but not the standard view using firefox (actually, iceweasel 3.5.8 from Debian/testing). However, after I reinstall NoScript, the next time I access gmail I do get the standard view. Nevertheless, after quitting and restarting firefox, entering gmail gives me again the html view and I can't get back to the standard view, until I reinstall NoScript again. This odd behavior seems reproducible. I can also get the standard view once if I start firefox in safe-mode. Any idea?

Could you try clearing your cookies?
Do you access GMail through a bookmark?

I did. It doesn't help. I type gmail.com at the address bar.Giorgio Maone wrote:Could you try clearing your cookies?

The problem affects not only gmail. To reply to this post I have to type a couple of words, a confirmation code. But I couldn't see the confirmation code at all (and therefore, couldn't answer your questions) until I installed (once again) noscript and allowed this page.

It may be an extensions conflict.

Re: No gmail standard view
From tools/Add-ons I disabled NoScript and then I do get the standard gmail view. So it seems something is wrong with NoScript or something is interfering with NoScript after I restart firefox (as each fresh reinstall of NoScript seems to work correctly). I will check re-enabling NoScript and disabling the other add-ons.Giorgio Maone wrote:It may be an extensions conflict.

Re: No gmail standard view
I guess I found the culprit: CNRI handle extension. I use it to get published papers from their DOI identifier. The extension is for version 2.2.2 of firefox and I currently run 3.5.8. I had no problems with previous versions of firefox, but I guess the last upgrade broke something. If I disable CNRI everything seems to work again as expected. I guess I'd rather disable CNRI than NoScript. Is there something else I can do besides disabling CNRI and waiting for an upgrade? Thanks.

Re: No gmail standard view
I was wrong. It was the 2.2.2 version of CNRI, but it is supposed to work with firefox up to 3.6.*. Nevertheless, it seems incompatible with firefox 3.5.8 together with NoScript 1.9.9.74. I will leave CNRI disabled and test an alternative, Mozilla Habdle/DOI protocol handler.
