Feature request: Optional config to allow default main domai

Post by WeAreBorg »

Hello,

I love your NoScript and have been using it for many years already religiously. Great job! I am an IT admin and have been trying to convince many of my people to adopt using it. Few got convinced. However, many tried it and stop using afterward. I asked why and they usually said too tedious to click or whatever site they were visiting was not working correctly. I still prefer them to always use the NoScript instead of none, never again, or thinking it as buggy and 'broke their site'. So to resolve this, I thought how about you make an extra option in your configuration checkbox or something that upon checking it, it will automatically allows script to work for the domain that they visit but not other domains that was not on the original link main domain site they click. This is not the best way, but hey at least they have some protection than none or never for the lazy or less technical people who does not know what they should allow or not.

For example, a user click on http://www.BankofNoScript.com and when they get there, they want their BankofNoScript.com to be automatically allow as like what they type originally, but has option to disallow as usual. Any other advertisement or other clickerjack sites/domain/ip will be automatically now allowed by default. This way, for the not so technical people or lazy people, their intended site will still work most of the time and still get shielded with NoScript from other non-related ip/domains. You can make it auto allow on those intended visiting site, but not automatically added to whitelist whenever this feature is enable in your configuration. Let me know if you need further clarification. Thanks.

How about checking NoScript Options > General > Temporarily allow top-level sites by default
Would that work for you?

Yeap! That will work! Thanks. I didn't know that was already there. You should make it listed as maybe a feature for the non-techies folks or some sort so it stands out better. I will assimilate all my lazy people to use it now. Resistance is futile! :) Great job!

Most non-techies don't know what Full Address, Full Domain, or 2nd base level-domain mean. I think you NEED to add few more words in there to help them know what those words mean...similar to the ones below:

(ex: http://www.noscript.net) SPECIFIC ALLOWANCE
*Only the http stuff from the site you visit is allowed*

(ex: www.noscript.net) LESS SPECIFIC ALLOWANCE
*any script stuff from the site you visit is allowed - not just only http*

(ex: noscript.net) LEAST SPECIFIC ALLOWANCE
*any script from the company you visit is allowed*
