Hi,
I've been a reasonably long-time and happy user of no-script (thanks), but in the last week no script seems to have spontaneously stopped working. I'm not quite sure exactly when it happened but probably in the past week or so. I first noticed it the problem a few days back when all the irritating scripts in a newspaper website started bombarding me with advertisements.
I then realised No-script 'S' icon had gone missing. I looked in to the add-ons manager and found the no-script add-on had gone missing. I do recall being prompted to update to a new version of no-script (which I did) fairly recently (within the past week also).
I just reinstalled no-script but it does not seem to have fixed the problem, though now it appears no-script is installed (the 'S' icon remains missing however). I tried to look into no-script options from within the manage add-ons control panel but cannot access the options (the options button simply doesn't work, and I have to use end program to quit firefox).
I just tried updating to the last development build (1.9.9.59) and exactly the same thing happens. I am running firefox 3.6.2. Any advice or assistance would be welcome.

Re: No script seems to have stopped working
Looks like an Add-Ons Manager corruption.
Could you try to follow the steps outlined in this article?
Shouldn't that help, it's probably an extensions conflict (known culprits are McAfee Site Advisor, HP Smart Web Printing, Microsoft .NET Assistant and ZoneAlarm Toobar).
You may want to try Standard Diagnostic to find out, then.

Hi Giorgio,
Thanks for your reply. I shall play around with your suggestions, however I have just done a complete clean reinstall of Firefox and also disabled all other add-ons, and the problem remains.
I do have .Net assistant (which is now disabled) so that might be the source of the conflict. However if so, it's strange as I have had both .Net assistant and no script working without problems for well over 6 months (though on earlier builds of Firefox).
I'm not convinced it's add ons manager corruption as the clean reinstall hasn't fixed the problem and the add ons manager seems to work fine with other add ons (it's only no script that the add ons manager doesn't seem to like).

Re: No script seems to have stopped working
It depends on what you mean by "clean reinstall": if you just uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, you didn't do anything "clean". You should try a clean profile, instead.Guest wrote:I'm not convinced it's add ons manager corruption as the clean reinstall hasn't fixed the problem

Re: No script seems to have stopped working
Hi Giorgio,
Thanks again for your assistance, I've now completely uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but when it comes to adding the No Script add on, Firefox now reports:
Firefox could not install the file at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... src=search
because: Invalid file hash (possible download corruption)
- 261
In other words, I'm afraid I'm still stuck...
Cheers,
Dugald

It usually just means that there's some temporary network glitch at Mozilla.ilDugaldo wrote: Firefox could not install the file at

Hi Giorgio,
Many thanks once again for your great piece of software ... and the fact that I finally have it back working on my computer.
