Firefox starts in less than 2 seconds. However, after I installed Flashgot, it takes more than ten seconds for Firefox to start up.
I disabled Flashgot and started Firefox again, and it is fast. When I enable flashgot, Firefox become very slow. I repeated this process several times to make sure that Flashgot is what is causing the issue.
Is there a solution for this? I use Flashgot a lot, especially with rapidshare.
Thanks

I'm going to assume that it is due to your anti-virus scanner scanning flashgot.exe.
flashgot.exe exists in your Profile directory when FlashGot is enabled.
(If you disable FlashGot, flashgot.exe is removed.)
Perhaps your A/V has a setting to ignore the scanning of flashgot.exe ?

Another thing you could check: does the slow down goes away if you uncheck FlashGot Options|Advanced|Automatic download manager detection?

Re: Flashgot Slows Firefox start up
I tried both of your recommendations. I paused my AV program, KasperSky InternetSecurity. I also unchecked auto detect download manager. However, it is still 5+ seconds slower than starting Firefox without Flashgot.
Sorry, but it is really bothering me. I love Flashgot, and I do not want to give it up. It is frustrating to see that Chrome starts 4 time faster than Firefox with Flashgot.

Re: Flashgot Slows Firefox start up
Make a copy of flashgot.exe & also the entire FlashGot extension directory (named {19503e42-ca3c-4c27-b1e2-9cdb2170ee34} in Extensions).
Copy all of that to a temporary location, into its own directory, perhaps called, /slowmedown/.
Uninstall FlashGot.
FF now opens speedily?
Do not reinstall FlashGot, but simply copy the whole shebang (/slowmedown/) back into the extensions directory.
(So now you'll have a directory structure like, extensions/slowmedown/)
Does FF now open slower?
If so, then that again would point to Kaspersky.
If Kaspersky is scanning the .jar file, which is simply a .zip, it would once again be finding flashgot.exe within.
(I thought Kaspersky kept hashes of files that it had already checked [in ADS] so it wouldn't have to rescan the file?)
If it still opens speedily, then something else is going on.
I'm assuming that Kaspersky will scan the entire /extensions/ directory tree, regardless of whether a particular directory (like /slowmedown/) is actually being "used". (Perhaps not, which might thrown my idea out.)
Anyhow, once done testing, delete the /slowmedown/ directory & reinstall FlashGot.

Hey
I'm so sorry, but I couldn't fine the file you are talking about. I assumed you meant the extensions file in Mozilla Firefox folder in the Program Files. I only found a file that starts with {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} and it does not have much in it.

Wow. There is a significant improvement after the last update. It is much faster now.
Thank you very much for this.
