[Resolved] Access to chip-card reader invisibly blocked?

Post by lazy »

It's a bit tricky and there is a work-around, but very uncomfortably.
Since a few week, access to chip-card reader plug-in (banking: karte.seb-bank.de) seems to be invisibly blocked, except NoScript is disabled completely or Firefox 3.6 started with admin rights.
Only if trusted web-site (karte.seb-bank.de) is forbidden, it's possible to allow PPI Chipcard-Browser plug-in 1.2.11.0, but only temporarily. After setting website to 'allowed' again and do a browser restart, plug-in is blocked again, but no message shown and no chance to allow access.

Environment: Win7 Home Premium

Any idea how to configure NoScript?

Thanks in advance
Lazy

Does it show in NoScript's Blocked objects submenu?

Yes, but only if trusted web-site (karte.seb-bank.de) is forbidden. Otherwise this submenu is not displayed.

OK, I checked and it seems to work fine.
First time I loaded the page, I was asked by Firefox if I wanted to allow the site to install the plugin, and clicked "Allow", then proceeded with the installation.
When I restarted the browser, I found the plugin placeholder if the site was forbidden, and when I allowed the site the placeholder was replaced by the plugin content: "Keine installerten Kartenleser gefunden [...]" ("No installed card found [...]") and two buttons, "Wiederholen" ("Repeat") and "Details", which seems the expected behavior since I've got no card reader.
Could send me some screenshots?

Thanks at first. I'll try it again by un-installing plugin.
But, have you closed Firefox, re-opened and checked, if you have still access? As I described, plug-in is blocked and once site is allowed, there is no option to permit plug-in.

Yes I do. As soon as I allow the site, the plugin works (showing the "Card reader not found" message).
BTW, did you try using NoScript Options|Reset?

Thanks for the support so far.
I de-installed the plug-in, restarted Firefox, reseted NoScript, restarted Firefox, allowed seb-site, installed plug-in, restarted Firefox - Result
It seems to behave different.

I am only offered to allow the plug-in explicitly, when site is not allowed. And then, there are 3 options:
"x-ppi-chipcard-plugin-1.2.11.0@https://karte.seb-bank.de/gei/authentic ... nfront.jsp"
"x-ppi-chipcard-plugin-1.2.11.0@https://karte.seb-bank.de"

But, all are named as "temporary" - and if granted, it behaves like this

What does happen, instead, when the site is allowed?
Could you show me a screenshot?

Plug-in blocked, nothing shown to be allowed (blocked objects sub-menu not shown)
No, cannot because pop-ups disappear when moving mouse, sorry.

I wanted a screenshot to understand how you determine that plugin is blocked. I mean, do you get a message, a grey rectangle or what?
I don't care about the popup.

Following your hint to check the extensions, I identified the Skype add-on as root-cause. Disabling fixed the problem (but I de-installed it).

Many thanks for an excellent support. I'll tell my friends!
